Canada PinCon- Technician Pit

Postby Chris Silver » Tue May 02, 2017 8:16 am

There will be a separated workspace enclosed by barriers, a table, chairs, power and a Wico cart for all volunteer technicians and individuals needing space to repair machines.

It will have easy access to remove games from the designated arcade and wheel them over to a controlled environment.

Bring your own tooling, lights, test equipment and soldering guns. I have access to change rooms with locks to store your gear. If you decide to charge a fee that is between yourself and the owner of the machine.

Technicians are welcome to advertise their companies and may have free vendor tables if requested.

Feel free to post here for technical support questions.

What a great concept! This is something that I've never seen at another pinball show, and will certainly help reduce the chaos/panic of folk setting up their games for play/sale at a show.

I will volunteer for tech duties.

LMK

PS I have ONE thing that will not allow me to volunteer but I do not know if this will be a issue. PM me for details.

Between the easy-access tech pit and the commission for-sale table? Well done.

Well, other than the flea market setup which should be quick, and the tournament time where I will assist Heisenberg, I should have all my tools and supplies handy. Chances are I will spend more time there than anywhere else.

Right up my alley. Great idea!!

If anything, I will work for donations to my Make-a-Wish charity bike race.

Good call on the charitable donation concept.

The Tech Pit will just be one more cool location to hang out at the event.

I am planning to help as much as I can while I am there - like I have been doing in all of the Ottawa Pinball & Gameroom shows in the past.
Looking forward to the show, thanks for organizing this Chris!

Load a game on the cart and make ambulance noises as the doctors rush the patient in to the operating room.

OK guys... So on top of bringing a potential of 8 pins at the show, and my 3 kids on Sunday, I will be working the technician's pit for pretty much the entire weekend when I am not helping Heisenberg with the tournament. I will be bringing as many parts and tools as I can. And here is what I propose...

Instead of paying for any parts and labor for repairs, I will accept VOLUNTARY donations to my Make-A-Wish bike run the entire weekend. No obligations. The ENTIRE proceeds will go to Make-A-Wish. So, fix machines, and feel good about it. Win-win for everyone!

Here is the thread for my bike run:

... and here is the link to my donations page, if ever anyone wants to donate:

https://cause2give.unxvision.com/P2PWeb ... View=43385

All I will need is a table, and some electricity for the soldering irons. LOL

Put a donation box at the technician pit with a sign of some sort and we'll dedicate the technician put to Make-A-Wish foundation.
