A little of topic but I tore apart and cleaned 18 seized score reels on a 6 player United shuffle bowler.

More!
They have AMH, FT, and Woz, repping Spooky, Heighway, and Jersey Jack.
Most new Sterns are LE or Premium.
Everything in brilliant condition.
Incredible lineup of classic widebody machines... Yeah and a million arcade machines I didn't touch.

Re: What did you do today in the hobby?
Having spent extensive time with Heighway's Full Throttle, Spooky's America's Most Haunted, and Jersey Jack's Wizard Of Oz, I am so very excited about the future of pinball. These are all INCREDIBLE games.
I look forward to their next games immensely: Alien, Rob Zombie, and The Hobbit, respectively.
And having had a chance go play Pro and Prem/LE versions of most new Sterns, props to them too for pumping out quality games in regular timeframes, the hardest milestone for every other manufacturer.
And pour one out for games like NASCAR, Monopoly, Wheel Of Fortune and Pirates Of The Caribbean, which have awesome playfields but oh how I wish their code could be redone by 2015 standards.

Re: What did you do today in the hobby?
I was having a couple games on my Centaur this evening before dinner and in typical fashion decided to replace a couple bulbs etc... I've always known that the game has a cool feature that flashes the GI on and off via a Triac on the power module in the bottom of the cab. Some GI lamps on my pin did in fact flash on and off so I suspected everything was A-OK except about a month or two ago I saw a video posted on here from another member going through his collection and he shows a Centaur in attract mode with the entire GI flashing on and off - not just the slings, pops and queens chamber like my game... So, I'm down there changing out a bulb and decide I should checkout the triac...
There are two connectors on the triac. One two-wire connector for the GI circuit input and a three-wire connector for the GI circuit output. But to my complete shock and utter amazement somehow these two connectors were tied together! WTF? So the Triac was isolated away from the GI circuit and the two-wire GI connector coming off the power module PCB that is supposed to mate with the other two-wire input on the triac was plugged into the three-wire connector that is supposed to hook into the other three-wire output from the triac. I have no effing idea how I ended up missing this during the restore job but I so easily removed the connectors and moved them around to where I thought they were supposed to be and Voila! Magical flashing GI in my Centaur - such an awesome retro effect!!! Anyways, I felt like a complete asshat idiot and genius at the same time while unleashing a feature I thought was working but but in fact wasn't due to my previous f*ckup 4 YEARS AGO! That's pinball, baby!

Re: What did you do today in the hobby?
I tried cutting some stencils on my Silhouette Cameo cutter for the Gay 90's repaint. Works well except for text some of the bits are too small to cut cleanly, like the hole in the "A". Still TBD whether I use waterslide decals for smaller text or just go in with a brush after. The main thing the stencils will give me is masking for white text which thankfully is on the large side.
Also sanded off a botched paint job on the last side of the backbox of Heat Wave I need to do. I need to buy different caps for my spray cans, the ones I used were too high output. At least this paint is "all weather" so I was able to respray that side white yesterday.
Oh, I also made the million point shot on D&D for the first time. Hard game!

Re: What did you do today in the hobby?
I am too busy at work these days to "engage" in our awesome and beautiful hobby.
Most posts "once again" are WTB or FS and we are at 80%+ of the current threads are of that nature.
Not a surprise why "many" of us are silent these days is my best "guess" on the state of the nation now.
Cheers! Salut! (And; Perhaps "fade away") To be silent again then my friends; until such time is required to re: "surface".
PS: My pins are "unhappy" with me.
I have been "ignoring them".
TIME TO PLAY.
Finally...

I have "never" disagreed with you on your wisdom and advice my friend.
I am sure it is time to return to all the things that we should be now doing.
Salut!

Still working on Monopoly playfield swap. Finished regraining the metal guides, and cleaned/installed plastic posts. I bit the bullet - day trip to TO tomorrow for a vvvvery overpriced (unobtainable) left ramp.

Re: What did you do today in the hobby?
Old Apollo 13 moon magnet vs a new one. How hot do you think it had to get for that to happen?
There is no direct shot to hit it, the magnet grabs the ball from the back of the ramp, so all that damage was done just by a pinball magnetically pulled in to it.
(I regret touching it by accident )

Changed out a couple worn stand up targets on my Whirlwind and have my tumbler working overtime on the mech's from my Seawitch...
Also bought another pin. Very sickening but awesome hobby this is.

Re: What did you do today in the hobby?
I feel like a champ for FINALLY digging down to the bottom of Apollo 13. So so so many layers on it, and finally was able to clean every last part of it and install LEDs.
Reassembly time now, and it feels like a victory lap.
Anyone have advice on how to take bulbs out of those #555 spotlight lamps with the silver lampshade? I can't get a good grip, and the lampshade doesn't seem to come off readily

I haven't tried it for that specific application, but a rubber shooter tip is handy for extracting #44.cait001 wrote:Anyone have advice on how to take bulbs out of those #555 spotlight lamps with the silver lampshade? I can't get a good grip, and the lampshade doesn't seem to come off readily

These ones...
There is a clip on the side that attaches the shade, but on the other side it is secured. EDIT: nevermind figured it out, you have to take the shade and bulb out at the same time.

My basement and garage are meticulously organized thanks to pinball.
Purged/sorted/cleaned for a year to make space for that first Royal Flush. Then kept going to make room for 3 more!
