Re: Marco Specialties shipping ... WTF????

I use to ship my Marco items to my US address to avoid the high price of shipping. I use to work near Ogdensburg, NY so it wasn't a big deal for me to drive over and pick up the package. Plus I'd fill up my gas tank while I was there. I'm no longer working near the border so I wouldn't do this any m...

Going to make an assumption that the Kijiji poster is a MAACA user and tell them to grow the fuck up. The fuck is wrong with you? Like, seriously, the local pinball community has tonnes of awesome queer folk in it, and this is the way you "joke around" behind our backs? Get a fucking life...

Re: Tim's First EM Journey. Fixing a Gottlieb Surfer.

I am officially throwing in the towel on this EM. I turned it on today to continue troubleshooting and pressed the Replay Button. Nothing. Again! I have lost count of how many times I have fixed this issue! Frustrated, up goes the playfield, I stab a slotted screwdriver into the Ax relay. I press th...

LOL. Great thread. I travel to two large trade shows every year and work my ass off for two weeks. Lately, after I've returned home, my body has taken more time than normal to recover. I just turned 46, but things stopped healing quickly a long time ago. Anyway, after the show I was recovering and f...

Thanks Sparky , that post covered a lot Denis Meh... I think the story needs to be told in more detail. Can't hurt. Re: Have you been bullied as a kid ?

How old was the guy that slammed his fist on the table? Same generation as yourself or an older generation? I want to apologize on behalf of English speaking Canada for that dickhead. Can you imagine if you slammed your fist on the table and demanded him to speak French? Was this the same guy that a...

Re: Have you been bullied as a kid ?

However, my 11-year old son just entered a Grade 6-8 school and he's been bothered a few times. I told him to punch back if necessary. I told my kid the same thing. He was getting picked on and bullied in a summer day camp. It stressed the hell out of me. If you can avoid putting your kids into sum...

Re: Have you been bullied as a kid ?

I was only bullied occasionally and nowadays I probably would have just considered it a good ribbing. Having red/orange hair I got "carrot top" all the time and even now I still get "ginger" but it doesn't bother me until someone adds profanity to it like "Fucking ginger&quo...

Re: Tim's First EM Journey. Fixing a Gottlieb Surfer.

Sounds like the Normally Open 'Hold' contact on the 500 pts relay itself (contacts should close when relay activated) and/or score motor contact 2B (perhaps - I do not have a Surfer schematics here) are wrongly gapped or dirty. -Sylvain. I will take a look at these areas tomorrow early evening and ...

Re: Tim's First EM Journey. Fixing a Gottlieb Surfer.

On that bottom row of cams (I looked it up!) I think it is that do 5 pulses every time the motor starts see if those switches make a good connection. Just tap the rollover slightly see if you can duplicate the issue then try again while pushing in the end of the outer switch see if it doesn't score...

Do not be vague. If you state "shopping" or "making a purchase" they will follow-up with "for what?"

About the only thing you can get away with not declaring when you come back to Canada is fuel.

Re: Tim's First EM Journey. Fixing a Gottlieb Surfer.

The cams/cogs/teeth look good guys. I mucked around with 1A and 1C a bit more and I have points counting again. The 500/5000 are counting. I am not sure what corrected the issue, or if it is solved permanently but for now I will consider it "fixed". The points are pretty solid if I use my ...

Re: Tim's First EM Journey. Fixing a Gottlieb Surfer.

Okay, onto the next problem. Points are not counting. More specifically, the 500, and 5000. 10's are working, and 100's are working. It seems the 500 and 5000 are not. The top rollovers should score 500 points each, and the drops should also score 500 points each with the entire bank giving you 5000...

Great short film. Really captured the spirit of Galaxy and pinball for me. Some great camera work on the ball, especially the tracking shot of the first plunge. I never knew water cooler bottles were made of glass back then. It makes perfect sense now that I've seen it. Man, those damn things must h...

Re: Tim's First EM Journey. Fixing a Gottlieb Surfer.

It was my Ax again. I tried the screwdriver method amona mentioned and traced the O relay wiring as per Sylvain's suggestion. The switches on my zero bonus unit were definitely open, and the other was definitely closed, but I stuck my slotted screwdriver in there anyway to be sure. I decided to foll...

The statement is correct: The Bonus unit has two zero position switches mechanically tied together, one normally open that is highlighted in the red path in your diagram above, and the other one just above it is a normally closed switch on the path towards the O relay... Good luck! -Sylvain. Thanks...

The ball return switch closes and completes the circuit to 'O' relay through the normally closed switches on zero position 'Bonus' unit, motor 1C, motor 2B, 'Q', and 'AX' relays." Something is wrong with this statement. According to my schematics the zero position 'bonus' unit should have norm...

I will freely admit that I had to look up the word empiriscist. Very useful and meaningful word.

I have to say, that a line-up of pinball machines along a wall is great sight to see, but a line-up of pinball machines along a brick wall will always be amazing.

Re: Tim's First EM Journey. Fixing a Gottlieb Surfer.

What I do at a time like this is roll up a little tube of paper or folded business card and close the outhole switch - don't want it kicking the ball into space when I have the playfield up but I do want to know when the circuit works. Then at each of the points listed above I place a small flat sc...
