Ha ha! Next project is to strip down the cabinet and head and re-decal it. Summer project though. For now, I'm just going to enjoy it!

Re: Tim's First EM Journey. Fixing a Gottlieb Surfer.

So over Christmas break Sylvain contacts me and we make arrangements to bring over my pin. Long story short, he has it for about a week and fixes the issue. It turns out that corrosion on score motor switch 2B was causing my intermittent (and maddening) problems. He added a bit of solder on the rive...

You can remove me from the wait list. I didn't think I'd make it in, so I made plans to go skiing instead. Tim.

Re: What did you do today in the hobby?

I finally got one of these again. roadblasters.jpg I regretted selling my other one years ago, and was very happy when I found this one for sale. Has a couple issues (monitor cuts out after a while, some loud static in music and missing the curved pieces), but it does work. Seller was a really nice...

Re: Warehousing pins with friends

As stated in another thread I have plenty of space, so I am able to store a few overflow machines for people. Some history on my place: I am in Beaverbrook (Kanata), not far from Sylvain. The pins would be stored in my finished basement. I have lived in the same house for 10 years. No basement flood...

If anyone wants to repay him, he LOVES the chicken at the Ogdensburg supermarket beside the UPS store ;) Reminder that http://myusaddress.ca exists and is superior to using the UPS Store. MUA is $5/package but they can hold them indefinitely. UPS Store is $5/week. MUA also gives you a bridge pass e...

Re: Shout-out to Robi: Fathom Project #1 is alive!

Nice! Since you're out of room, you're welcome to let it live over here for a little while! As it turns out, that scenario is not entirely outside the realms of possibility (after Jane has played it for a while). I'm absolutely at my pinball-limit in the house, and farming out the odd title to a tr...

Re: Northstar Pinball bar (Montreal), no free games

Just so I'm crystal clear on this, receiving an extra life in an arcade game like Pac-Man upon reaching 10,000 points would trigger this Quebec law and the associated fees outlined above? Or if you found the diamond in Mr. Do! and got a free credit? I remember Todd Tuckey walking the viewer through...

Re: Northstar Pinball bar (Montreal), no free games

Ridiculous. I wonder if Hasbro (formerly Parker Brothers) pays a fee every time someone lands on this space in Quebec. monopoly.jpg The one thing I do know, even if I was a millionaire there is no feeling better than hearing that coil go off when you win a free game. Agreed, unless it's the n...

Re: Northstar Pinball bar (Montreal)

Montreal had a by-law that prohibited pinball on most of its territory until a couple years ago. The license is sold by Quebec, the city has nothing to do with it. Quebec abandoned the license very recently, but it appears the caveat is you can't give free games anymore unless you pay the old fee. ...

Re: Northstar Pinball bar (Montreal)

So... you want them to pay... to give you free games? Stop, I'm about to cry........ 145$ par année LOL Wait... $145 per year? Is that per machine or does it include all the pins. Does the city of Montreal even have bylaw officers that go around and check this stuff? THAT seems like a bigger waste ...
