Avoid lubricating anything unless the manual tells you to. Usually only metal / metal joints may need a light oil.

Re: Rivet press or rivet punch tool at Ottawa show

Success was reported with the hand squeezer!

The dies that came with mine were for solid rivets I had to buy ones for semi-tubular somewhere else.

Re: What did you do today in the hobby?

Finished clearcoating my BSD playfield with SprayMax 2K. Bought a pop-up spray tent which worked well https://www.amazon.ca/HomeRight-C900038-M-Spray-Shelter/dp/B011L3DVVO/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=spray+tent&qid=1560870985&s=gateway&sr=8-2 I did have PPE on; spraying out side there is minimal...

I was more curious about how you are going to do the cutouts around inserts, slots, scoops etc. Do you have a vinyl cutter?

Re: What did you do today in the hobby?

Cleaned tumbled and polished a bunch of BSD hardware. Tumbled the yellow colour right off the 3/8" sheet metal screws oops. Bought striped wire, sockets, translite trim and blood red flippers sinking even more money into this project! Waiting for a nice day to naphtha the playfield and see what...

Re: Parts Tumbler Questions

My wife called it "the noisy thing" when she couldn't remember what it was called. I put it in the basement beside the furnace and it is pretty hard to hear now. Two days works, if a part has lost its plating in my experience it hasn't helped much.

Been buying a lot of little things to fix up BSD -- man it adds up! Just had to buy a rivet squeezer die, looking forward to being able to do my own rivets. Which rivet setup did you get? Bought the 3" yoke version from here: https://www.aircraftspruce.ca/catalog/topages/handrivetsqueezer.php ...

Machining a part in Ottawa

I need to get a post machined for BSD. Seems the part is unobtanium.

Looks like this: https://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/02-4587

Any suggestions on a machine shop in Ottawa that you've used before with success?

Exactly. This is why it is wise to Google some of the distinctive ad text to see if it matches an ad somewhere else.

Re: Flash Gordon restoration - done the hardest way

Beautiful work done out of passion! I have done my share of scanning & redrawing but nothing to this extent. I have a playfield waiting to full repaint, still mulling on the best way to do it. Currently I am thinking to airbrush everything and screenprint the black layer.

Re: What did you do today in the hobby?

Stripping down a BSD, my most complete cleanup on a DMD machine thus far. Washed all PCBs. The MPU board has seen some work quite a few chips socketed and still some remnants of battery leakage; bit of fur on some leads. Thinking about replacing with a Rottendog to avoid the inevitable issues that a...
