Re: Best Arcade Song Of All Time

I'd say it would be something synth-pop from late 70's early 80's. Coincided and arguably may have started the sub genre during video game explosion.

Re: HELP GND short row 1 is stuck closed Road Show

If a particular row does not display as closed, or is closed without any test lead connection, replace its corresponding LM339 chip on the CPU board. Here are the switch rows and which LM339 controls them:

Rows 1,2,3,4 = U18
Rows 5,6,7,8 = U19

Re: Price check. WCS SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN

With inflation the 6 million dollar man is now going to cost you about 20 trillion or about 2 bitcoin by the end of the month. World Cup Soccer or WCS94? Wanna laugh ? Remember that 'trial' 0,005 Bitcoin you sent me in 2014 to test the Maaca Bitcoins donation ? I had forgotten it... until last week...

It's a loaded question. The obvious answer is BOTH! You're ship-wrecked on an island. How else are you going to pass the time?

Re: STTNG - need board repair tech advice

That seems like too cut and dried a problem. Do this and the hardware works, do that and it doesn't work. I'm thinking firmware corruption i.e. a bad ROM. Also try re-seating ribbon cables.

I like the fact that people are dusting off these items and bringing them in to them. Without the people, the history and the knowledge that goes with these pieces, their purpose and their relevance would be lost forever. There comes a time where you may have something and regardless of whatever pri...

Nice pin from the era when the 4 player EM Bally virtually dethroned Gottlieb and was crowned the new king. Be nice to get a peak of at the rest of it's surrounding mates. Good luck on your sale. For that era collector this is definitely one from the day.

Vertical Monitor Original XBox game

I'm not sure how many of you were aware of this but a port of Psyvariar 2 Extended Edition made it to the original XBox. Huh? As American as apple pie and foot long hot dogs XBox you say? Yes the big black brick of joy; controller the size of a head of lettuce and blessed with smiling triple platinu...

Ah yes, the monkey operated jukebox. You put your quarter in the monkey's cup, he pulls out an album and ques up a song for you. What a piece of modern ingenuity. Way less moving parts to break. Looking at the age of it you probably just need to replace the original monkey.

Re: The game related stuff you stumble across on the web.

Yeah. I was watching a video about the rise of Compaq the other day. Brought back the whole IBM arrogance and trying to monopolize the market era and that Microchannel BS they tried to pull that ultimately backfired on them. It's funny to think about the time when IBM wasn't in the game and Radio Sh...

The game related stuff you stumble across on the web.

I was looking for manuals and ended up in an internet time capsule of video game mags. Kind of interesting to browse through so I'd thought I'd post the link.

I'll see if there's a way I can double check but I don't think originally the slip clutches were leather. I'm almost certain it was another piece of plastic that rode in between. What's important is that you end up with just the right amount of friction so it will turn until the solenoids engage it ...

Me too. In jukeboxes. Not any of the tubes in them would have ever been considered high end but they get the job done. I guess the one good thing about mono is matching is made twice as easy.

Unfortunately capitalism took hold in the former Soviet Union and they want good money for these things. They were still producing tubes long after everyone else went solid state and you couldn't give tubes away unless they were select ones for high end audio.

You have a design? I've looked at making one of those but the nice big IN-18 tubes I'd want to use are pricey.

I was more inclined to build one of these.
