Re: Space is a premium... and the big fish syndrome

I'm am lucky to have a very decent income and a union job... but that means I give it back. I buy North American wherever possible and support local businesses. Do I need something printed? Then it goes to Imprimerie Plantagenet, not Vistaprint. Do I need a new car? Then it's a Ford, not a Kia. Do I...

Better late than never: added this fuse block to my Atari Middle Earth to protect these transistors, as recommended by a forty-year-old service bulletin.

Re: WAY OT : Well Water Issues

Water softeners harbour sulfa bacteria. They need to be cleaned on a regular basis. You likely have a biofilm problem. You don't need a new softener, but you do need a thorough disinfection. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to solve it: https://www.hunker.com/12132838/how-to-get-rid-of-rotten-egg...

Re: WAY OT : Well Water Issues

You might have fun draining the tank to get it out . :FP: Cut the inlet and outlet feed lines. Mate a hose to the cold water inlet, suck on the end, drop it in the floor drain and it will use the dip tube like a reverse siphon. Takes all friggin day and it will still leave enough water to be damn h...

Re: Logic probe... what do you recommend?

I use a scope, but it's definitely a pain in the butt when I could have something a little more immediately line-of-sight. I'm just too cheap to buy more tech when I have something that already works well enough for my needs.

Re: Drain thread

I don't actually want to delete threads, and this isn't like reddit where you just get buried in the pile-on. It's more like "Meh, I don't care about that thread and I don't want to have it pop up on my screen any more."

Drain thread

Pinside has an interesting feature where a user can "drain" a thread- it will effectively mute that thread from the recent topics so that it won't pop up for that user any more. It's very useful for threads that you have no interest in, especially when a single user, often the OP, continua...

I can't surrender it to CBSA, I can't destroy it, I have to put it back to Europe on a boat... stupid. It still cost me $30 to sh...
