List a price or you're going to get a lot of interesting offers.

If you want to know how much they're listng for, pinside marketplace is a decent place to look.

Re: Aux Lamp Board for Testing

Which line is stuck? I have equipment for testing U1-U5, so bring over the board. I can pull them from the sockets and run verification on them. Replacements are cheap: U1: https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/texas-instruments/CD40175BE/528407 U2-5: https://www.digikey.ca/en/products/detail/t...

Re: Asteroids Deluxe PCB repair

Whatever you do, don't toss it! I've done a lot of board work, but I don't have the time to take on new projects at the moment.

It's almost always the edge connector, after that the IC sockets, then capacitors. Almost all issues with these games are mechanical in nature.

Re: Gottlieb Arena resurrection

I used to chuck one of those eraser sticks into a drill and spin it, and then I'd shine up the underside of the socket with a wire brush, apply flux, and solder the button to the tab. It works decently well, but I find it takes much longer and never holds as well as just changing the socket. I bough...

A friend wants a Harlem globetrotters. Maybe not too much of a project as it’s a first pin, but let me know what you’ve got and we’ll sort out what’s fair.

Re: Just picked up my first pinball machine

Never shotgun board swaps. That's an expensive proposition. Every individual component on that board is available for pennies from companies like Mouser and Digikey. You could buy spares of every component, plus a soldering iron, for less than a replacement board. If you're going to be a pinhead, it...

Alright, well, pull the control panel off, but don’t smash the rest. I’m sure someone will take it off your hands.

Re: It's time to mod Sparky's beast!

I think you're probably much better off selling it to someone who wants it the way that it is, and using the money to build something new. Changing it from what it is to what you want involves reusing very little, and destroying a lot. Just start from scratch. There are half a dozen outfits in town ...

I know these mech pics get a little repetitive, but sometimes the transformation is so incredible that I just have to post them. Check out this kicker: IMG_3148.jpeg IMG_3158.jpeg After running the coils through the ultrasonic, I use the compressor to blow the cleaning solution out. It smells like a...

My good friends: buy yourselves an ultrasonic cleaner and vibratory tumbler and you’ll never again worry about what to do with your hours and hours of free time. IMG_3141.jpeg IMG_3145.jpeg It’s an improvement! Now I just have to repeat that with every mech left in the game. Slow and steady wins the...

Aaaaaand I just realized reading the labels that the incorrect knocker coil was previously installed too. Should have taken a closer look when evaluating the machine. Going to have to order up the right ones. Rookie mistake.

Mata Hari

Getting started on a Mata Hari that I picked up a year ago. It’s been staring me in the face, and over the holidays I got enough of my loose ends tied up that I can finally get started. Ultrasonic cleaner is fired up, and now I’ll break it down bit by bit. First job is always to start with the deep ...
