Re: How to make a reasonable offer below the asking price?
If the price is fair, I send the full offer. If the price is too high but they don't say that they're firm on the price, I send what I feel is fair. If the price is too high and they state that the price is firm, they won't hear from me. I'll wait until they update their listing. On the other side ...

Re: Classic Playfield Reproductions is undergoing a restructuring and downsizing
Follow up: hey folks, it’s a fire sale over there right now. They’re aggressively discounting playfields and other items in order to clear out their space, so if there’s a project that you’ve been on the fence about, you’d better order it now. By the time you want to do it, you might not be able to.

Re: Classic Playfield Reproductions is undergoing a restructuring and downsizing
That’s big news. I’m glad to see that they’ll be continuing to reproduce playfields. I guess the whole “on demand” thing that they were hyping with the new printing tech never really panned out, if they’re going to allow titles to be “sold out” after a launch period. Once they stopped screen printing ...

Re: What did you do today in the hobby?
Unpacked a great big order from Marco Specialties for all of the current ongoing projects. I seem to do one order a year from them, and every time, they screw something up. This time was no different; they sent me 25 of the wrong coil sleeves. Waiting on their solution; I really don’t want to have t ...

Re: What did you do today in the hobby?
Busy week this week auditting the repair/restoration work necessary on an Elektra that I picked up last summer. Four pages of notes of things that need to be worked on. Took the notes, made a spreadsheet, and spent the better part of a paycheque ordering replacement parts. Elektra is an interesting ...

Re: Free wall hanger playfields
Thanks a bunch!
If anyone stumbles across this later and is in need of a decent playfield for any of the above titles, please reach out. All three are quite nice, and while they have a good home, they’ll have an even better home inside a playable machine.

Re: Time to stock up…
Literally nothing desirable about fluorescent tubes.
They’re not efficient, they don’t look as nice as either incandescents or LEDs, and they’re a pain in the arse to dispose.
I’m pretty happy to make fluorescent tubes history.

I finally finished this Mata Hari project that I’ve had on the back burner for a couple of years now.
I’m going to give it a good home for a few months until I get around to listing it for sale.

I'd get a quote from B&N Transmission on Gladstone. I've found their pricing far more reasonable than the dealer and they've always done top notch work.

Re: Rowe CD100E Amplifier recapping?
For your last question, they were definitely never intended to be high fidelity. They were intended to be reliable with as few parts as possible, and never powered off. That said, recapping with parts from digikey shouldn’t be that expensive. Sure, big body caps with terminal screws are pricey, but i ...

Re: Rowe CD100E Amplifier recapping?
Centek out at St. Laurent and Walkley does this sort of work and so does Hi-Tronics. That said, through-hole re-capping is one of the easiest electronics repairs you can do; for under $50 you can buy every tool you need to learn. Now... one thing about graphic eqs on jukeboxes that you should know ...

Mike, I'm going to ask you, as a friend, not to put the rights of my family and close friends as merely the product of polarizing political attitudes. They're real people; let's not lose sight of that. There's no separating the art from the artist here. The artist uses proceeds of the sale of that ...

Re: Harry Potter Collector's Edition art revealed
That’s not entirely accurate, Mike. Licensing normally works on a royalty basis, per sale of machine. The more sales, the more royalties. In this case, a significant portion of each new game purchased can definitely be shown to fund real world organizations that actively lobby to harm trans people — ...

Re: Bally Elektra gameplay video
Yeah! It’s still playing great! Sorted out a couple more connector issues this morning. Gonna have to order a couple of triacs for the playfield GI. The old stud mount ones at the bottom have been bypassed and probably for good reason. The legs on one have been soldered together and that’s usually a ...
