Re: Cost approx to repair drop target, missing lights on Phoenix

Lights not working could be just a burnt out bulb, or it could be a bad socket, bad connectors, or it could be a bad component on the control board. Drop targets could be as simple as a switch adjustment, or could be coils, or also bad connectors or a bad component on the control board. I bought my ...

LF IC's - a 6800 CPU and two 6820(or 6821) PIA's

Anyone here in O-town have these IC's kicking around that they'd be willing to part with?

Thanks!

Re: RESTORED AND CUSTOMIZED PINBALL ARTWORKS

Is it really necessary to post a bump or update EVERY. SINGLE. DAY? Why not just do it once a week or something? People don't like needless spam.

Also if you're not selling these, then what is the point?

Re: Early Bally SS issue

Well that was bloody short lived. Played a bunch of games with no problem. Thought all was good. Left the machine on for an hour or so and came back to it to find screwy lights and displays again... :FP: Turned the game off for a second and back on, then got nothing at all. Opened the back box...

Re: Early Bally SS issue

Thanks for all the help and encouragement and ideas... I took a step away from it for a few days and put the matches away :) I got back to it and replaced the 5101 with NVRAM so I could get rid of the battery and all that mess. The board cleaned up really well, no corrosion under there to be seen. G...

Re: Early Bally SS issue

Crap you're right... How would it have kept the high score? I was sure I got all of them but I must have skipped that one. #%^@ No idea what was causing it to reset. It stopped the last time I removed/reinstalled the board before I repinned the connectors. I'm guessing it probably was a bad connecto...

Re: Early Bally SS issue (Black Jack)

Arghhhh this is frustrating :x If the 5101 wasn't an issue before, it sure is now. When this issue first cropped up I removed the chips from the sockets and reinserted them, they're all clean and all the pins are clean, etc. After that, I had reset some bookkeeping data to see if it was able to save...

Re: Early Bally SS issue (Black Jack)

Ok I've redone all the connectors and nothing really has changed. So here's where I'm at... When game is on standby/attract mode, the players 2, 3, 4 displays are flashing between 00, 222222, and the high score. Player 1 display remains blank. When the working displays show the high score, it only l...

Re: Early Bally SS issue

Well I re-pinned the J1 and J4 connectors for the MPU board tonight and nothing changed. :( I'll keep going on the others over the next couple days and see where it takes me.

Re: Early Bally SS issue

Yeah I mentioned I've gone over it with a meter looking for shorts and didn't find any. As far as fixing what wasn't broken, at the least, pulling the lamp driver was necessary. I checked the bulbs and sockets, that's pretty basic. I already have new sockets to replace the bad ones. At one point I f...

Re: Early Bally SS issue

I've tried poking around everything putting pressure on various points on all the boards, everywhere... connectors, Ic's, etc, etc... nothing changes at all :( I'm wondering if I should just bite the bullet and buy a replacement MPU and driver board... pretty sure I already paid more for this game t...

Re: Early Bally SS issue

Any corrosion on the MPU around the battery? -Sylvain. Yeah the board has definitely seen better days. I don't know if it's battery corrosion, or just age in general. The area around the battery doesn't show much damage, but a lot of the larger copper traces and ground plane are kind of wrinkled up...

Re: Early Bally SS issue

i would go with connectors or cold solder joint on pins. Because the game worked fine before and you removed and re-installed the boards moving the connectors and pins . http://www.pinwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Bally/Stern#Connectors I have parts at home (orleans) if you come across something yo...

Re: Early Bally SS issue

Hey thanks again for your time, greatly appreciated! Check header pins on MPU connector J1, pins 12-19. There might be a short between two pins on either side of the board (including under the connector header if too much solder was added). Checked with a multimeter, as well as the other headers, it...

Re: Early Bally SS issue

Unplugged the lamp driver, get the same flashing 222222 on the displays. Putting the machine in display test mode results in the displays flashing all 0's a couple of times, then all 2's, then back to 0's, and keeps going like that... It doesn't cycle through 1-9's like normal. Moving J4 on the MPU ...

Early Bally SS issue

Hi folks... I have a frustrating issue with the boards in this pin, maybe someone here has encountered this before. I bought this Black Jack recently and it was working and playing great, but it had some lighting problems that weren't disclosed by the seller. It was affecting the gameplay so I pulle...

Re: What did you do today in the hobby?

Well not today but yesterday I met another MAACA member and bought my first pin. A rather nice 77 Bally Blackjack. I went over budget but they print money everyday, right?

Also, T. I. L. to route the power cord through its place before placing the back box on and bolting it down... Lol
