Re: Replacement Boards

Is there anyone in SW Ontario refurbishing boards?I have a solenoid driver board for a Bally Star Trek than isn't firing the outkicker/ball launch. Pretty sure it's the transistor. I looked at a parts order from great plains but it just doesn't seem worth it as I'm avoiding stocking up on bulk part...

Re: Need Help Debugging Power Supply and Shaker

Have you tried checking or replacing Q4 (or Q2) TIP36C drive transistor, and checked its associated R16 and D18 yet?
There does not seem to be much else left...

Re: Atari star wars cockpit display issue.

I had run into a couple of similar issues many moons ago when I used to work part-time in a TV radio repair shop in Montreal-East, while studying at university. If one color goes to the max after a few minutes, it could be cold solder joints on the neckboard, a bad color drive transistor or adjustme...

Re: Need Help Debugging Power Supply and Shaker

You are doing well up to now. I unfortunately do not have much spare time these days, long work hours have re-started at the office. Before proceeding with troubleshooting transistors or component replacement any further - are you saying the shaker motor turns weakly when activated, but strong if yo...

Re: Need Help Debugging Power Supply and Shaker

Next step: - Measure the DC voltage between one end of the large ceramic 1/2 to 1 Ohm resistor on the shaker motor board, and ground. Repeat the measurement between the other end of the large ceramic 1/2 to 1 Ohm resistor on the shaker motor board, and ground. In both cases, it should be close to +1...

Re: Need Help Debugging Power Supply and Shaker

You need to measure the 9VAC between CN1-P10 and CN1-P11, and not with any reference to ground:
because this raw AC voltage originates from a secondary winding from the power transformer (via the power supply board), and not in reference to ground...

Re: Need Help Debugging Power Supply and Shaker

What AC voltage (not DC) do you measure between CN1-P10 and CN1-P11 ? Around 9V AC on the power supply? What about on the shaker motor board, between J1-P1/2 and J1-P4/5? Should be also approx 9VAC. I assume you already checked the two 2.5A fuses. Did you check the 1/2 to 1 ohm resistor just before ...

Vérifie le fusible du haut-voltage/display en premier.
Sois-sûr que les cables ribbons sont biens branchés.

Re: Help with repairing System 7 boards?

Could be the static-sensitive 5101 CMOS RAM 22-pin chip on the MPU, or other circuit around the memory protect possibly.
Strange that it mostly worked earlier and now no more.

Re: Help with repairing System 7 boards?

I do not have the time to pull a Sys7 schematics now (busy today), but: - to have a FLIPPER coil energized at power-up, there needs to be two things happening: - incorrect state of the flipper enable relay on the board - AND, the corresponding flipper button switch shorted. Is the game booting now, ...

Re: Help with repairing System 7 boards?

You need to measure the voltage of the batteries arriving on the MPU board - often one or more contacts on the battery holder are gone. Once measured 4.5V or higher, with the cash door opened turn the machine on, wait a few seconds, then turn it off and back on, it should get out of audits if all is...

Re: Help with repairing System 7 boards?

Check the battery holder in case there was corrosion at some point, e.g. the 4.5V batteries voltage (3x1.5V) not always getting to the MPU memory - booting in Audit mode.
Are the batteries still good?

On power-up, the quick loud hum is normal on those Williams.

As with most things, conditions will also impact the price/value. Any rust, how are the casters/wheels, and especially how's the hydraulic cylinder conditions? (e.g. does the machine slowly go down to the floor once you release the latch on the dolly, or does it go down in a violent fashion)? Make s...

Canadian Coin Box Magazine Feb 1970 I think Mr. O'Reilly always had a suit and tie with handkerchief In his mid 80's, I can attest that he still does come to work in a suit and handkerchief. Hi Robert,

Many many years ago, I had purchased a 'tub of white rubber rings' from Steve Young.
Does he still have that? I would buy one again, if available and if not too late for ordering.

Thanks!
