Re: Gottlieb Surf Champ - always two players

Now the game doesn't stop, no game over and was just kicking out balls and advancing into the void. so I checked the usual suspects and now game still doesn't end when I activate the ball trough but instead of kicking out the ball it gives a replay and spins the motor. Heavy sigh..... I would check ...

Re: Gottlieb Surf Champ - always two players

Question.....should the coil be getting power even though the game is turned off? I don't mean it's activating, but twice now I've gotten a little "love ya' Bruce" from the power tabs, even though the game is shut off. Been unplugging it now when I reach in....🤔 Should not, unless the ground prong h ...

Re: Gottlieb Surf Champ - always two players

Can you take a picture of the start button switch inside the cash door/cabinet? Just in-case someone wired an extra non-factory switch to it to simulate a coin drop while pressing the start button... Google AI indicates the following - although the Coin Unit is usually located in the cabinet and not ...

Re: Blue Note Score Motor

Does the machine add points on its own while you are playing? If so there could be a stuck switch.
Same issue if you disconnect the playfield to cabinet and cashdoor to bottom board Jones plugs?

Re: Blue Note Score Motor

Also make sure the score motor 'park' position (I think it is switch 1C) properly opens at every 1/3 turn when cam is in its notch.
I assume you already/also checked that the coin switches are not stuck closed inside the cash door

Re: Blue Note Score Motor

Score motor continuously running indicates a stepper or contact not at its expected 'resting' position. Does the score motor stop if the head's Jones connectors are disconnected? If yes, Cait001's 'AX' might be a possibility - or a relay unlatching it. This older Mr.Pinball Startup Tip might help ...

Re: Bally Kiss Right Bottom Gate Question

Looking at the manual, there is no wire connection to that 'switch' on that bottom right gate assembly. The top center rollover appears to control the gate ('Opens Gate when lit'). I assume Bally reused that assembly from another older machine that needed the switch - the 'unused' switch might also ...

Re: What did you do today in the hobby?

I do have a question for y'all... 20250115_153334.jpg What the ever lovin' is the function of this thing? It is hooked to main power feed. What's it's ultimate purpose? Maybe a kick-off, or a slam or anti-cheat switch to stop the game if the front of the game is lifted and dropped to the floor ...

Thanks Alex, it was nice meeting you in person today ! Just to add a few details to this post in case anyone wonders: I had only about an hour or so to visit. I got asked to present at Pinball Expo 40 and I've finally solidified that and booked my flight and hotel. Spending over $1k to go give a presentation on pinball ancestry is totally on brand for this absurd and delightful hobby! :) I'm getting super hyped to experience Expo for the first time, and ...
