Re: OPL Presidency Change

Yes, thank you Jason. If it wasn't for you I wouldn't have ever gotten into this hobby. Hmm... maybe I shouldn't be thanking you for that. ;) :D I didn't make it out to many OPLs but I always wanted to. The ones I did make it to you always made me feel welcomed at and I always looked forward to batt...

Re: Need advice from TV technophiles... 65" TV

My friend works for Harris, here's the big secret on 4K : the industry just upgrade everything to 1080P....no one is upgrading camera/broadcast equipment to 4K anytime soon! Exactly. Go for 4K or UHD resolution, don't settle for 1080. Everything is going 4K or higher, and you don't want to limit yo...

Re: Need advice from TV technophiles... 65" TV

I have a 1080p 47" LG LCD from 2008. I paid over $2K for it back then. The same TV today is probably $600-$800. It weights a ton. Maybe they used through-hole components. I don't see any problem with the blacks. I work as a broadcast technician. My company sells video production switch equipmen...

I'll flip them over tonight. It's getting harder to find the hole the older I get. ;)

Re: Old Stern - How do you put the legs on?

OK. But Tim, originally the nut plates were always installed the other way at the factory. Maybe you have improved the past. :D Hugs, Rob Ha! I was waiting for you to chime in. I was going to put them the other way, I really was, but the more I thought about it the less sense it made to me. The bow...

Re: Old Stern - How do you put the legs on?

4 hours later and it's up on legs... 20180722_170333.jpg I installed the leg bracket with the flange side pointing in. My thought process was that the bolt would be pushed in the bracket and the bowl on the opposite side of the flange would center the bolt so that it would thread properly. The other...

Re: Old Stern - How do you put the legs on?

I removed the second plate. Now that I was able to hold them both in my hands I still think this is an after-market fabrication. The metal isn't even cut square, and the one was held in with a spiral nail and a finishing nail. I'm going to install the new leg system. One last question, does the flan...

Re: Old Stern - How do you put the legs on?

I doubt those rear plates are original. You could use washers and nuts to hold the legs on, it's not hard to do with the head removed. Or replace with the proper type of plate. I'm was starting to think they are not original too so I decided to remove one. When I did I saw that two different types ...

Re: Old Stern - How do you put the legs on?

On mine, the plates press-fit into the wood when the legs are tightened and are held in with a spike. Front and back are the same small-ish plate. I have seen some games that have a second large cross-plate on the inside that covers over and prevents you from using bolts that are excessively long. ...

Old Stern - How do you put the legs on?

Hi guys, I'm working on an old Stern. I've never put the legs on one of these before but I'm having problems. The front legs I believe I have covered, the leg brackets were completely stripped but I have replacements. See photo. If you can't figure out which is the old and which is the new I'm not g...

That was a 1:30 video of a pinball hitting bumpers. I want to be positive about it though. It did look very shiny. I am with Cait on this one. I think I've said it in the past as well too about re-doing simple EM layouts but man... money, money, money... I guess it's good that people are paying for ...

For buttons, samething i use only leafs switch. You can certainly find wico joysticks on the used market but they are pricey. By pricey what do you mean? Should I expect to pay under or over $100? Has anyone tried these? https://groovygamegear.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath...

Re: Mame Arcade Joystick and Buttons

The best arcade joysticks you can find are the leafs Wico joystick, harder to find but real arcade feeling. They are silent, much more precise and faster than ''click click click'' micro-switch joysticks. You will really enjoy your arcade games with wico leafs joystick. I built my mame with those j...

Mame Arcade Joystick and Buttons

I've been tinkering with retropie for the past couple weeks. I would like to take it to the next level and order an actual arcade joystick and buttons now. I've watched a few videos and seen the popular ads on Amazon, but there aren't really any thorough reviews out there. The joysticks I've used in...

Re: Ever taken a loan to buy a pinball machine ?

Nope. My first pin I ended up selling my comic book collection, baby strollers, baby everything and recycling scrap metal and wire for over 2 months.

I always prefer to use cash, but if I was ever to pre-order or order a pin I would use my credit card so that it has buyer protection on it.
