Re: Happy B-Day necro - a nemesis I never met

I'm still active just not so much in buying and selling. More in the appreciation phase. Very much love the hobby and glad to see others continue to discover or rediscover the beauty of pinball.

Thanks all. Long live the game.

Contact info for ToMMy (Brent, Coldwater On)

As the title says please. I see he rejoined the forum but his activity indicates a PM would be unlikely to make it to him quickly.

Thanks.

P.S. for those who may not recall ToMMy made the two matching Rush custom machines.

Re: Medieval Madness Price Check

The enjoyment I got over the years building up and playing my collection was worth the price of admission even if it were all to drop to zero. I have wasted more money over the years on BS than this pinball insanity which have given me less reward. If anything it would be nice to retain some value f...

Old skool would be the molasses and water three week soak. Works extremely well, reeks to high heaven, but if any rust got under that chrome the chrome would be removed.

If it's any consolation yours did exist but only for a brief moment as it fell below the QC line. One of the rejects thrown through the wood chipper to ensure the anal didn't get upset with the run.

Re: High Speed - DONE.

Well then they accurately repro'd the originals! Exactly and should charge a premium for it being concours. ;) The buyers being so nitpicky about repro pf's being more perfect than the originals are likely escalating the cost of playfields due to rejects for something that really is inconsequ...

Re: Medieval Madness Price Check

If you apply the car analogy then the argument against repairing with currently available parts goes out the window. One only need to watch 15 minutes of Barrett Jackson auction to see all sorts of pristinely restored cars sell for top dollar. Hell lots of these cars are re-bodies using completely n...

Ok rare Nintendo cartridges. Pretty sure those ridiculously priced ones that sell to completists could be replicated for a fraction of the cost.

Re: Medieval Madness Price Check

There's a difference in value the same way if I print this out on the finest laserjet using the finest card stock isn't worth the same. MMR is also not identical so it will always be distinguishable from the original. It's not logical but it's just the way it is. I believe the term is sentiment and ...

Absolutely, it looks great, but when you had some jackass tell you about the flaws in your repro pf that's probably 10X better than the originals ever were when new you start to notice these things.

I think it's fabulous and would look stunning in any HS.

Re: Medieval Madness Price Check

Prior to MMR, likely around 8k, now, I wouldn't take a beat one in need over 3k, and if hard to get stuff is missing, I'd likely pass altogether. I'd take it if it needed over $3K in stuff as long as it was factored into the cost. It's always nice to work with brand new stuff when shopping out a ma...

Old Phylosophy: Unfortunately if your buying it likely isn't a lot less than a half decent copy the reason being that pretty much everything to make a wreck into a cherry for MM is available. Even if you throw $3K of shit into it to make it pristine it's going to be price of pristine one less $3K si...

Hard to tell but I could swear the one blue insert is stress cracked and the right has sanding marks. The "2000" on the tach seems to have similar issues. May be what's showing through from underneath.

Keep the HS. I agree with HSII being better but HS has it's own merits and I can justify owning both without feeling it's redundant in doing so.

I'm wondering when people are going to just use one of these ARM based mini systems to run mame cabs. On a performance/cost basis it seems the logical way to go.
