WTB: ROBOTRON 2084 and/or others

Postby superwill64 » Thu Aug 31, 2017 12:02 pm

Hi,

I'm not to savy with this hobby, but I know I do want a couple of machines. In particular I am looking for ROBOTRON 2084. So far I've only been able to play this via mame or console "best of" compilations. I want the REAL MACHINE! If anyone is selling one or knows where I can find one that would be neat.

Others I'd be interested in if anyone has them:

Mortal Kombat 2
Tekken 1/2/3
Virtual Fighter 1/2

Thanks :)

If you played Robotron with microswitch joysticks, you still don't know what Robotron is and what this game have to offer.
Robotron is a fantastic game when you start to master it and reach scores above 3 millions.
Good luck with your search !! :)

Sooooooo true !

I have a nice Robo U/R cab which has been "under construction" for 8 years now.
(ie, it's been sitting in my garage for that long ) , and I have a pair of NOS 4" WIco red ball leaf sticks
just waiting to be installed.

A few month's ago I picked-up Mindstorm's awesome MAME cab,
and have pretty much only played Robotron on it since.

It's a great MAME cab, but it has micro-switch sticks , ... and it's just not the same for Robotron.

I would get 2M-3M per game with the leafs, (my all-time high was 6.5M ),
but now I rarely ever break over 1M with the micros (avg is more like 500-800K)

... and it's driving me CRAZY !!!

The micros are choppy (...wrt to Robotron gameplay only... ) , and often don't respond like I want them too.
Leafs are soooo much smoother, and the movement is so much more fluid.

Robotron is not like any other game where movement does not have to be so precise.
With 200+ objects coming at you from every direction, the width of a single pixel can make the difference
when running diagonally through a sea of bullets and grunts....

So much so that I'm seriously considering taking that Robo cab out of deep storage and fixing it up for good...

;-)

Good luck to the OP.
Robo is an all-time grail (... as per my avatar.. )
