Painting the Web on Amazing Spider-man

Post by spidyguy67 »

Greetings... does anyone have any suggestions how to paint the white webbing on the Amazing Spider-man cabinet? Would a sponge technique work? I wanted to try this before I applied the stencil. Thanks in advance for any suggestions or anyone who has had experience doing this.

Well, since you are looking for suggestions, I once painted a few projects using marble effect spray cans. It worked ok, I actually needed to sand a few edges that appeared when using that paint, it can be difficult to obtain a real flat surface. But sanding after it had thoroughly dried, then using some sort of finishing clear to seal everything, worked.

A bit like this vid I found, but you would use white/Gray paint. It's worth testing!

Also, maybe you could go for printed webbing/marble patterns on clear adhesive film? Would mean actually printing some marbelizing effect sheets that you can cut and assemble on the cabinet before you seal everything..

I am getting ready to use the marble paint as the previous comment. I will let you know how it goes. Curious what paint color did you use for the grey? Or did you use a silver? Deciding on a color. What did you go with?

Myself I alternated between using pale grey and some white. I sprayed some pale grey first and let it dry to get the base effect. Then did some grey again, but sprayed over in a few areas with some white before the grey could dry. It kind of blended together where I had put more paint.

It ended up with some depth in the patterns, with different shades of grey and white. Key is to experiment on a piece of the same material. Do clean the nozzles well after use (paint is quite thick), or you'll en up with blotches of paint.
