Gottlieb System 80 Ground modifications

Postby mbudman » Wed May 17, 2017 11:13 pm

I am quite new to working on Gottlieb System 80. I have a Pink Panther and I am replacing the power board. Since I am replacing the board with a new (hopefully modern) one, does it require the recommended ground modification?

Yes indeed.
The ground mod supplements the connectors/pins in the game and should help prevent incorrect drive transistors biasing that eventually lead to multiple burned coils and shorted drive transistors (especially if the game is overfused).

There is also a youtube video from Todd Tuckey (TNT) describing adding two wires on the MPU-Driver harness.
