GTB World Fair (Stepper unit for "Spin Disc")

Post by R.A.B. »

Looking for a detailed picture of the no reset stepper unit located on the underside of the playfield of a 1964 Gottlieb "World Fair". This stepper is located at at the back ass end of the playfield to the right when standing at the player position. ( ref: under the operators sticker in the pic) It serves to spot the one to eleven numbers after the playfield spin disc stops.

Back story - this stepper in question in this particular example of a 1964 Gottlieb "World Fair" was likely rewired in socialist red coloured wire in France many moons ago. It was hacked to work in a touch and go kinda fashion which the client Alouette sold it to doesn't approve of. I went to look at it a couple of weeks back when I was in the area and realized I need a picture of the wire jumpers and some of the colour coded wires to the contact disc and for the set of fingers that "ride"on the contact disc in order to get around the hack and possibly find the original reason for the modification, but I need the correct jumper configuration and since the colour codes are replaced with commie red wires only, the schematic can provide the long way home, but I want to cop snd blow from that scene, so I am asking for pictures of the original set up if anyone here would be so kind to provide.

In simpler terms I need a close up shot of the unit from the right, basically the opposite side of the picture below (ignore the bell) LoL

Just saw this notification request my friend. There is a shrink wrapped restored World Fair at Bluffs circa 1964 redone by Drano and Spiroagnew many moons ago now...
I shall endeavor to get this down off the rack and de-shrink-wrap the contents and see what we can see for you if you still require a photo of the wiring. Call you tomorrow @ Alouette.

Thanks for taking the time to do this Scott.

I had asked novaguy and singlezero if they had a World Fair since they are into that era, but Ted told me that the one they had is out of their stash. Never thought to ask you directly, so this forum does still work even if we actually talk every week about other things than pinball. :D

With less visits between our refuges I forgot that the bluffs warehouse is full of older classic machines up on the racks as well as newer stuff on the ground. Mixing it up like you do remains the pinnicale pinball experience. You have some real gems at the Bluffs from all these different eras, and that makes the place special. Enough good stuff to create a shrine of sorts I would say. ;)

Hey Robert glad to see you're getting this looked after.had to do this a few years back when Chris had a Williams Apollo with the 0-9 unit cut out of it.I was lucky enough to get one from a guy in the states and had good enough pics on the data base to wire it in.good luck my friend and have a good weekend.
