need help with a mini lamp

Post by Splitskull »

I finally disasambled the coin head and checked out the lamp. IT'S DEAD!

Need a mini lamp for an IGT slot

part number from manual: 193 019 90 LAMP, MINI, 5V, 060 AMP CUSTOM

Now.. I don't care if it's not the exact part as long as it fits in the small hole in the coin head.

yes, but I think the LED is 3v? Not 5v

The Source by Circuit City should have some of those. Pick one 6V at low current.

Alternatively, as suggested by AMX, you could use a regular LED, providing
the supply source is DC and you add a series-resistor to limit the current.

The value of the resistor can be calculated as follows, to make the current
a safe value across the LED:

supply volt - LED drop forward voltage
-------------------------------------
desired current thru LED

i.e.

voltage across resistor
---------------------------
current thru LED and resistor

example for a 10 mA, 3V LED:

5V - 3V
-------- -> Resistor = 200 ohms (use 180 or 220)
0.010 A

Required resistor size (power) for above example:
Power = voltage square across resistor divided by resistor value:

P = V*V
----
R

P = 2 * 2
-----
200

P = 4
---
200

P= 0.02 watt

A resistor value of 180-220 ohms with 1/8 watt (or 1/4 watt) should be fine.

Bonne chance !

Thanks for suggestions.

La Source (Circuit City) has only 12v. I asked at Add-Tronique here on chemin Gascon and they have 12v only too.

So LED it is. I got a clear(white) LED and a small resistor (115Ohm 1/8W). Does it matter to which led lug I solder the resistor?

I looked at the schematics but I dunno where is my 5+ positive and wheres my ground. So I guess I'll try on way and if it doesn't light up, I'll reverse the wires.

Gonna look something like 5.5v+ > resistor >long lug of the led >short lug > ground

I shold be ok, right?

no it doesn't mater , it can go on either side(as long as its in series)

like you said,if it doesn't light up flip the wires ;)

LED are polarized, meaning it has to be connected in a direction. Otherwise you will end up having no light

You can put the resistor before or after the led as long as the kathode is connected torwards ground (short leg)
