Barb-Wire adding points

Post by Kevin »

Hi

I have Gottlieb Barb-Wire ... once a ball is in play, points seem to be adding for no reason. Once the ball is in the trough, it still keeps adding points until a Left Flip, which will trigger the bonus count.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Kevin

You've got a stuck switch somewhere on the PF. Go into switch test and it should show you which one is closed.

I can't find a stuck switch. The diagnostics doesn't seem to be much help.

Seems to get worse as the machine is on longer (heating)?
Maybe a ground issue ... everything works perfects, it just decides keep adding 50,000 continuously.

The game is great ... plays well.

Good to see you on MAACA Kevin.

Still sounds like a switch to me...... or the CPU thinks it's a switch. Sorry, but I'm definately not a Gottlieb expert, somebody on here should be able to help you..... maybe try wepsherpa - he had that Wipeout for a long time and may be schooled in the ways of the Gottlieb.

I fiddled with it some more ... checked all the grounds in the bottom, confirmed 5V proper ... all the usual suspects seem OK.
I am convinced it is the Ball Diverter in the Left Ramp Assembly ... I think it susposed to alternatate sides. When ball goes through, it adds points until the diverter clunks down ... sometimes doesn't seem to happen. Diverter isn't jammed and coil doesn't seem to be energized so the points keep adding. Maybe just not seeing a switch to stop that sequence. Persky nuiasance this, epecially with not really knowing how exactly it is supposed to work!

JW and I spent some time troubleshooting this evening ... banging the playfield seems to cause issues. Turns out that a through beam sensor on the trough under the playfield was dangling loosely ... causing all kinds of intermiitent issues. Back in place and all is good. Case closed.
