Eight Ball Plus - BSOS Powered update for your game

Eight Ball was one of my first pinball machines. My particular one was a huge previous project where I redrew all the artwork on the playfield, printed it directly onto the wood then clear coated it. It was also my first cabinet restoration.

Being a first generation solid state machine the rule set is understandably thin on Eight Ball. I always thought it would be fun if there was some sort of 15 ball mode where all the center playfield lamps would be used instead of just half of them.

There is a big thread on Pinside started by Dick Hamill who figured out that an Arduino plugged onto the MPU J5 diagnostics connector could operate the pinball machine instead of the original CPU. The operating system resides on the Arduino and it drives the PIAs to operate the switch matrix, drive lights, displays, solenoids. https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic ... an-arduino

I have been working on what I call Eight Ball Plus since April. I first duplicated the factory rules and game functions then added new ones. There are currently 5 goals to be achieved before entering the final 15 ball wizard mode. I intend to refine it further but the game is complete right now. The video gives an overview and shows game play. If there is anyone local with an Eight Ball who is interested in trying this just let me know.

Love the idea of a low cost, non-invasive mod. I wrote new rules for Meteor a couple of years ago but had to replace the whole MPU board. Where did you buy the J5 interface boards? I did not see that mentioned in the video or the pinside thread.

I just released an updated version of Eight Ball Plus V80. The game is complete now, much more display information and the Bank Shot lets you get all the way to 10X bonus multiplier if you have enough skill. Full details on Pinside and there is a new rules video.
