Cool. Probably a sticker to go over the plate but an improvement for certain. I wonder why they removed "Press button to play"? The extended black block is there where the lettering went.

Funny this guy has a different logo and his coin door is single slot. Also does not have the two 25 cent lens' in it.

Making stencils from a picture can be a bit of a challenge. Due to perspective the object in the picture will be disproportionate to actual sizes. What I was required to do was take actual sizes off the machine and import the picture into Corel. After creating an outline of the actual dimensions the picture then must be transformed to fit this outline and the transformation has to take into account roughly the center of the photo. This is more than just scaling the photo as it has to be correctly skewed to fit. Once this is done the perspective is removed from the artwork then vectorizing can commence.

Here are mock ups of the front. They were printed in tiled format and stitched together. I did this to ensure the scale was correct prior to having them cut on a plotter.

Here is a picture of the lower front for the sake of comparison. The lower was easy to cross check as the dots are at 1" intervals so I was able to create a dot array in Corel to verify the art against the dot pattern.

This is starting to look like something other than a wooden crate.

Why do you do that and post pics? Now everyone is looking at their Cabs and thinking "Man, this sucks, I need to redo it!". Make us all work... Sheesh...

Naah... I don't have room for the ones I have, I really like the Wild Kingdom, but have never had a chance to even get them home to set up and go through. One works, but needs a really cood cleaning, the other might work, but needs a few other little things to even test it. One day though...

Gangbusters I have one working, the other is missing a few parts, both of them are nice, maybe to nice to part one of them out...

Hmmm Glen. We need to talk ;)

I could see several project challenges in your future. Only problem is moving my TP or WK back to TO although the stencils are still at a fellow members there.

ME most of this kind of work is what I call craft type work. It gets done when I have the time. The temperature has dropped to the extent where even if the desire and time is available the project gets parked until I can get the garage warm. Being my own machine that I am somewhat ambivalent about the overall outcome and not being concerned when it actually gets completed affords me the latitude to approach a project like this.

If I had a heated shop and if I were retired and financially independent things would be different. There are only so many guys that would pay what it actually takes to do this kind of work properly and from what I have witnessed the only way these get game get done is primarily through self satisfaction of fixing a game, not through financial reward.

One at a time, on my own time on something that turns my crank is about the way things run around here. If I win the lottery you'll be the first person I call. :)

Thanks Gory. I haven't ordered any parts for the coin door yet. The two 25 cent windows I may just have to make out of what's there since these are blue and have 2 plays on them. If that's the case I will be printing new black overlays for the blue plastic backer. The main issue is the gold plaque.

Here's a screenshot to show how vectoring from a picture works. The area to be done gets a piece of craft paper cut to the polygon shape. This is because it isn't a rectangle so I required this to take detailed measurements from. The polygon is drawn in using these measurements. You will see the access panel outline as this was an easy reference to use for scaling. The picture is then skewed to remove perspective. It is then vectorized and details that aren't part of the stencil removed. The final detail is to replace the circle with a true circle. The original vector was almost an exact circle but having the option to easily make it perfectly circular it gets replaced with a perfect circle.

Here you can see the artwork printed in "tiled" format then stitched together using a table cutter and clear tape. It is placed over top of the craft paper polygon made from the actual side of the game. Overtop is a sheet of clear acetate. The position and size of the access panel is double checked by re-measuring the area on the cab. A permanent marker was used to mark out this panel so the stencil can be approprately aligned onto the cab by whatever remaining areas of this marked line are not cut out of the stencil.

The stencil will now be cut on two separate pieces of acetate so that black and purple can be shot onto the substrate.

Well this project has taken a backseat a few times to other things but I got on it and stenciled the left side and started re-assembly. There are a few pieces inside I need to reproduce, namely the mansion picture, moon and one tree. Here are some update pics.
