*3D printed parts thread*
Hi everybody,
Since 3d printers are more and more accurate and much more cheaper to acquire, I would like to start a thread for people who are looking for almost impossible to find plastic parts(pinball related).
I'm sure there is some designers here who would like to share their skills with others. I use to print some Williams target guides for a friend and they were sturdier than the originals.
Thingiverse is a very good source for this but I think MAACA would be a good place to discuss about that and share some knowledge.
Here are some examples of parts available: attachment=3]cb9331ccb80b6c1825730ac612df7ea6_preview_featured.jpg[/attachment]

Re: Unobtanium plastic parts thread
We had printed Bally p/n P-7939-1 ( Nut & spring Bracket) for North Star's Dolly Parton when we were in a pinch. Worked great. Couldn't find it anywhere, then I found a bunch at Alouette after we printed it, so we have that file somewhere.
Regardless, I think this is a good thread Chnill, but if I can make the suggestion to use part numbers under the pics so there is less chance of an error. Believe me alot of parts look like what you may need in a picture, but without part numbers you can't be sure.
Hugs,
Rob

Re: Unobtanium plastic parts thread
OMG, I can think of quite a few... But I would also include any part that is beyond expensive due to shipping from the US. One that comes to mind is the plastic slide bracket for early SS Williams drop target units. It is a plastic part on which the drop target "contact boards" are screwed onto. 30+ years later, the screwholes crumble. A big pain in the ass.
Dr.Dude "Big Shot" figurine... One sold for 150$US on Ebay, and another was listed at 1000$US. LOL
Freddy glove flipper...
Heck, even custom flipper bats.
I am sure that people will chime in with their own little discontinued plastic part that is dead and needs replacing.
Me? I would only need simpler non-critical things, such as the drop-target light shield for Rolling Stones. The original is a vacuum-formed POS.

I need some things for my telescope. To replace duct tape
What's the biggest surface you can print? Something about 5inch diameter ok? I think is 5inch or so.
This would be cool if you can print it.
https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2487105
Let me know if you or Bruno can do it, and how much $ ?
Thanks

Re: Unobtanium plastic parts thread
I'm willing to print some test stuff for anyone as long as you provide the file and pay for shipping. My printer is resin (DLP) so the print volume is a tad small. 115mm x 65mm x 155mm. But the resolution is awesome and you don't get print lines.
The resin has a shelf life of about 1 year and I am near that so free printing!
I can print clear (new 1 L bottle), and have a little bit of opaque gray left.
Cheers,

Good !mrmikeman wrote:I'm willing to print some test stuff for anyone as long as you provide the file and pay for shipping.
Cheers,
That's the magic of this hobby. Welcome to this thread!
