Pop bumper base doesn't fit. Hole is too small and the cutaway is routed incorrectly. Looks like I'm going to need to Dremel out the hole. Not sure how I'll fix the plate landing but if I want to do a nice job I think I'll have to buy a router now too. Ffs. Careless and no attention to detail.

I've ordered a router. I guess I'm into woodworking now.

Here's a pop bumper before and after:

Modify the playfield not the plastic in my opinion

I will agree on new playfields they are hit and miss
I have worked a CNC machine and dont understand on how they can get it so wrong if they are made in house
My opinion they are probably out sourced so you have no control over quality

My Fathom playfield was to thick and then it was routed out to thin for the pop bumpers and it had shit loads of clear cote
A friend had a micro playfield for CV and it was to wide he ended up routed out his cabinet so he could put mirror blades in .

Brutal. Yeah, there's just a whole lot of not paying attention to detail going on over there, and since their target market is people that have an eye for detail I'm really not sure how they make it work.

I bought a backglass from them once and it was missing the entire whole colour green from the print. Lots of people had the same problem, but CPR argued really aggressively on pinside that the original never had that colour and that we should stop whining. After things died down, they quietly released a corrected version on their site but said tough shit to everyone that had already bought one. Couldn't even re-sell it because the corrected ones were out and who'd want a wrong one? I had such a bad taste in my mouth looking at it that I traded it off and bought a one-off from a backglass reproducer in the Netherlands.

Another time, I lent them a plastic set for scanning and they lost one of them. They reproduced and shipped the set without verifying and they tried to blame me for not sending it in the first place. Instead of apologizing to me for losing my original plastic, I got yelled at about how it was all my fault and did I have any idea how expensive it was going to be? I had to hang up when they asked me if I had any picture proof of the whole set together in the box before shipping. I've never been treated that way by any supplier, especially one that I helped for free. A month later they sent me a replacement set... but, as a huge fuck you to me, they'd taken out the missing piece! Now I had two full sets missing the same pieces. It didn't matter anyway- their print head was so badly misaligned that when lit from below, the plastics projected lines on the ceiling in my game room. I already had a replacement set of plastics from Pinball Rescue in Australia and their quality is an order of magnitude higher.

Their Meteor playfields (which I luckily didn't buy, after finding a NOS one) were missing a whole bunch of target text. They never acknowledged the mistake. In the end, people reproduced the text with decals and re-cleared their brand new playfields just so that it would look right.

So yeah... I want to like CPR but thousands of dollars and half a dozen times trying to work with them it has never gone smoothly. At some point you'd think I'd learn my lesson, but for most things they're the only game in town and they act like they know it.

Now this is what a rebuilt flipper should look like.

Old:

New:
52BD48DD-E279-470C-B6F1-03F006FFDF70.jpeg
Unfortunately I have to take a brief pandemic pause. The new flipper plate I ordered for the second one needs 10-32 screws and I've finally used my entire stash. Put in a curbside pickup order at home depot for hardware and I'll just have to wait.

Regular office paper is 20lb. This 24lb coloured paper is perfect: https://www.staples.ca/products/47879-e ... sheetsream

Dammit. Dropped a 1/4" nyliner down the drain. They weren't cleaning up well in the ultrasonic anyway. Time to pour more money into Marco. At least they seem to have resolved their shipping issues to Canada.

$200 later and the pops fit. I can't complain too much; a palm router might come in handy again.

Yeah, sucks big time. I would have contacted CPR back with changes they need to make to their templates for that specific model, also would ask to be compensated somehow. I guess many have tried, and it didn't make any difference, e.g. based on what I keep reading about CPR.. still would do it..

I bought the playfield a couple of years ago from a friend on MAACA, and I think he'll be glad to see the finished project!

I'm starting to think the router was a good investment.

Minor setback today as the supplier I bought the apron from finally stopped dicking me around after a month and agreed that they didn't have it. Put in an order at Marco, which I should have done in the first place.

New playfield brackets arrived from Mantis. Shiny.

25 minutes in an ultrasonic bath and 24 hours in a tumbler with walnut shells. Relatively little effort on my part other than patience. Taking it off one field and attaching it to the new one takes comparatively more time.

You guys have great abilities collectively, lol, it's incredible. I just dabble! But looking over what you're doing with that bath and tumbler, I hope to one day start with maybe our Pac-Man coin mech and get it all fixed up. Gotta start somewhere! But that's my girlfriend's baby, maybe not the first thing I should try! Lol
