Pinball Arcade loses Williams license

Post by cap »

Almost all tables in Pinball Arcade will no longer be for sale past June 30th 2018 because they lost the Williams/Bally license.
The tables you already bought will continue to work, so buy them now if interested before you can't.
They plan to release the Stern tables from the Stern Pinball Arcade as Season 8 this summer and more Gottlieb and Alvin G tables in the future.
The official announcement is on their facebook page together with a small FAQ.

Yep. It's not clear if they did not want to renew at all (because they could develop an app themselves or they sold the rights to someone else) or if they asked for too much money and Pinball Arcade could not afford it so they blame PPS.

I had put all of the Season Packs on my Steam wishlist and slowly but surely bought them up when they were sporadically 50% off. I don't play Pinball Arcade much, but will have to think hard and maybe go for the season 6 and 7 packs that I hadn't bought yet.
Virtual Pinball is no pinball, but it IS a great way to dive into the software and scoring of the games.

I have all the games already.. they are working very well except the latest Stern ones.

Even on my boosted gaming PC, the Ghostbusters table lags like hell.

Side question: anyone is using this with an Oculus Rift with good results ?

I, am Dracula... (and you're not!)

I've looked at stuff like that before in the past but like with MAME I don't want to spend time configuring and fiddling. I appreciate the straightforwardness of Pinball Arcade (and the Zaccaria emulator, which I also bought).

Reminder. You only have a few days left to buy the Williams tables. The license expires after June 30.
After that, the number of tables will go from 95 to 33.
