Atari Tempest, close to 500,000 mark

Postby HPR Pinball » Sun Jul 10, 2011 5:33 pm

I decided to start a serious training at Tempest. I have this game for 10 years but never play regularly to hit nice score and improve seriously my gameplay. My first goal, reach the invisible levels. They start at level 65 and i was at level 54 in the light blue levels.
I was close to 500,000 points mark but my hands start to shake, miss it by few points, try again 5-6 games and stop playing for today :)

If you know well vids from 80's, you know Tempest is not ''shoot all you can'' game. It have a great firepower but essentialy it's a game of concentration, reflex, speed, reaction, strategy and ''finesse'' :)

How long is a game that gets to that scoring level? I always remembered Tempest as being a very short game; well at least for me since I wasn't ever any good at it.
Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated.

Just made 508,000 and it take 40 min. Of course, i use the continue play feature and play about 10 games. My heart beat fast and strong, i have the impression i just run 20 minutes
Incredible game when you practice every day, it change completely the dynamic between the player and the game, those classics game can give you the ''feeling of god'' when you start controlling all the action around the screen :P
