So, I had an all too brief chat with Bally Boy last night... Damn it was good to see him again! What sucks ass was that I had to leave to meet my boss for supper... which ended up not happening. FAAAAAAAAAK. I would have DEFINITELY downed a few more beers and chatted much longer.

And I got shit from Thunderstorm as well for being close to his place in Kitchener and not stopping by... LOL

I must admit, it is truly great to have so many good friends.

And, bonus moment of the day yesterday, I got to drive with the window down and sunroof open for the first time of the year. I always make it an event and for me, this usually means spring is here. Arm out the window, wind in the hair, and good music blaring. Spring is here, mofos.

But... this has to be the first time as far as I can remember that I get to do this in... FEBRUARY!!!???!!! WTF...

But, more of the same today. Tonight, after work, I head for the Bluffs. Music selection complete... Let's start with a classic... I am a Steve Howe and Steve Hackett nut, so...

I logged on to answer a PM. I thought I might as well give a bit of a news update while I’m here.

Obviously, I’m still alive. I’m now legally divorced. The whole process took over 2 1/2 years. It was very difficult emotionally but I’m done now and I managed to keep my house, my pins / stuff and my work pension fund.

I’m still into EM pins, especially old Bally’s. Still into Bingo machines. I finally found a 20 hole Bally Bingo machine with a side game thanks to a good friend.

As I write these words I don’t feel like doing shops jobs for other people anymore unless there’s a real incentive other than just financial.

And no, I’m not back on MAACA. I still need some time off.

I decided to sell a cherished pin in irder to pay for new flooring. I can't have anyone come over at tge end of April on bare concrete... So I rather sell one pin instead of cancelling the MPL meeting.

I hate this hobby sometimes.

The better option would have been to buy more pins so that they cover the floor so that you can't see it!

You know what? Fuck it. I will keep the pin and play on concrete until the fall.

Besides, it is easier to find flooring than find a pin. LOL

That sounds like a better plan.

For the moment, you can go to walmart and buy hallway rugs for cheap to put in front of the pins.

HOLY CRAP... I played at Logan's Arcade until my arms dropped. The place is FULL of games. A real barcade with local microbrews... I played almost every single game in the place. Here is a brief list of the noteworthy...

VIDS:
Pole Position II cockpit... holy fuck, it is 1982 all over again. This one made me smile! It would definitely be part of my collection. I may have to look for at least an upright...
Q*Bert... Holy fuck... I haven<t played a real Q*Bert in well over 30 years. I happily dropped quite a few quarters in it.
Tron... goofy trigger switch made the light cycle level near impossible, but still fun to play.
Track and Field... always a favorite
Spy Hunter cockpit... 35 years later, I still fucking suck at it. LOL
Others like Moonwalker (wow...LOL), Tapper, Joust, Robotron, Star Wars cockpit... crhrist, so many...

PINS:
I won't bore anyone (especially myself) on talking about the A-list WMS DMD pins nlike TAF, TZ, MB, etc... I have played them before, don't care for them at all.
Atari Hercules... OK... I know what people think... slow as shit... but you know what? This one was playing flawlessly, and DAMN I was having fun on it. I was having fun playing it 2-3 games, then head for a standard pin. The regular pin felt like I was playing a small toy. LOL
Heavy Metal Meltdown... OOOOOOOOH YEAHHHHHHH... SPARKY GOT HIS SHIT ON!!! I playfully asked the repair guy to crank the sound on it when he was repairing it's neighbor, JunkYard. LOL ..... FUCK I need to find one again now... wow...
Bally Radical! .... a rare bird, and quite fun to play!

But OK... let's get to the real meat and potatoes here...

AEROSMITH: ... .... .... I tried to like it. I really did... But I walked away... The art, as gorgeous as it is, is just too "busy". I found it extremely fast but the shots are mostly all up top. And the animation on the LCD screen... I found it completely useless. In fact, you can't really look at the damn thing while playing or you will lose your ball. My opinion is that the LCD should be in the middle of the playfield, but then again, maybe it's a good thing that it is that way... you don't have to look at a cartoon Steven Tyler just moving back and forth. So, my rating? 5 on 10.

BATMAN 66: WOW WOW WOW... THIS is what Aerosmith should have been like. Nice layout, cool toy with the red phone and Bat Computer, nice ramp shots, and the game is so well balanced that you have time to quickly glance at the LCD, but without having the game be slow. The animation sequences are nothing short of brilliant with snippets of the TV show. I even like the crane rehash from the previous Batpin. There was not a single thing I didn't like about it... Just brilliant. I didn't have time to go deep in the rules, but I didn't care. I was thoroughly entertained. My rating? 9.5 on 10 (the missing 0.5 being that it is out of reach to buy. LOL)

WHOA NELLIE: OK, I had played this before in Allentown, but I spent more time on it. Cute... fun, but it would get old quick. More of a novelty I guess. 6 on 10 for me...

PABST CAN CRUSHER: OK, I know... same layout as Whoa Nellie... but tweaked a bit. Larger flippers... uses the white Powerball, so WAYYYY faster... way better music and callouts. I thought I wouldn't like it... but I did. 7.5 on 10.

I also played Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, Kiss, and other notables. I give them all a 7.5, except for Star Trek... DAMN I like that pin. So well balanced and fast. That is a 9 for me.

And I am topping the evening off with a nice deep dish pizza from Pequod's... DAMN that tops off an evening!!!

It was! Compared to Logan's, Geeks Mania is more of a traditional arcade. No bar. But just as fun! In fact, I even appreciated it more than Logan's for 2 reasons...

1- They had some EM and more early SS pins. I did enjoy playing Hot Line, Stingray, Bank Shot, Cinema, Black Knight, etc... And they also had a Batman 66, but the pro model. To be honest, it played pretty much the same...

2- The place had a lot of kids running around (I like that... atmosphere) and less tournament-oriented douchebags like the guy I saw at Logan's, screaming and shaking the complete crap out of TZ for having a bad game, making everyone around him uncomfortable. That type of person KILLS the vibe for me. Most go to a barcade to enjoy themselves... but some pinball profeshunals take shit way too seriously. The barman said that he was some top-tared pro and he couldn't say anything to him... While at Geeks Mania, according to the owner behind the counter, one guy shook up and kicked a machine the week before and was immediately escorted out.

Other than "Rules of the game" ...

And things I want to buy of course...

I guess I am back. I never left. I was just quiet for a bit.

I find that "months" of reading and "moments" of posting works best...

Feeling quiet these days even though so much crap is happening in and around me. I reckon to guess that I don't have the exact same priorities as before, which I think is normal. But then again, normal is what everyone else is and you are not. So go figure.

Example, a year ago I was fascinated with observing wildlife on the plateau Mont-Royale especially from a certain juxtaposition at the North Star (hence providing the pinball fixation we all share here) and subtlety matching my ideas to what I saw. Even though some things are still important to me, through time they inevitably become less important than before and are not necessarily always replaced. You sometimes need to make space. And sometimes it just feels good to be quiet while life goes on all around you in a frenzy of wonder, stupidity, callousness, comedy, youthful joy, sadness, drama and more wonder.

Maxed out at 10 machines, no more no less. Toujours a 10 machines, pas moins pas plus.

A philosophy of doing shall rule til the days when I can no longer "do" arrive. Because when I am too old to wipe my own ass, adjust an AX relay or relieve a woman from sighing, there will be only memories to fill my time. So, the task at hand is to build a RRSP of memories, come hell or calm tides.

Life in two time here...

A lot of project for the clinics... we moving, so a lot of exciting planning, decision and preparation. It should be really good for us and the patient.

On the other side...

My father is real sick, we don't know if he will leave the hospital... he had a cancer 14 year ago, and now it come back and it's not fun. Start to look to move my mother here in MTl (they are from Saguenay with a really nice place on the river).
