I know some people aren't fans of Todd and TNT, but the guy is entertaining. He has so many interesting stories from his years as an operator.

I'm not sure if it's the video editing, but it looks like Data East was disorganized compared to the snaking Williams assembly line.

Barry Oursler was not a designer name I could remember before I saw this video.
Here is an interesting interview with the man.

That's for sure...... he would'nt have such an amazing team if he did'nt pay them well.
His employees do very nice work on the games they repair and restore, the Devil Riders I use to have and that now Sparky has was restored by TNT and I use to own an Alvin G. Dinosaur Eggs that I had bought NIB from TNT, they have great costomer service.
By the way, I was very happy to see Barry Oursler honored like that, he's one of my favorite pinball designers.

I remember them getting a lot of heat from collectors after they posted their infamous junk cabs video. Still tough to watch

That's completely stupid, how can you like pinball and do that?
2 things completely incompatible. :( :(

Yes this hurts. As I was watching I couldn't help but shout STOP...

Junking machines must be very common in the restoration business.
That struck me when I saw his huge pile of stripped playfields in some other video.
You can see some of the machines were partially gutted, but there was a lot more to salvage.
The intent was to show some machines are not worth being sold by TNT.
The mistake was to show "some machines are not worth being sold by TNT AND NO ONE ELSE".

I don't want to get in to this again, as it has been done to death elsewhere, but they give away a huge amount of old parts and cabs outside their building. Most stuff is never taken away.

The pins that they threw off the roof in those videos were virtually worthless back when that video was shot.

Full complete working games of those particular titles were worth very little and no one wanted them, nevermind the ones they threw off the roof.

You could get a b-list wpc game back then for well under a $1000, no one wanted the Gottlieb dmd games.

The outrage at those videos has been gone over many times the last 15 years.
Gone - Split Second, Cyclone, DM, WH20, SWEP1, Skill Pool, MSF, JM, I500, NF, WPT, Tron, TZ, Cyclone #2, Astro
Currently Playing - TOMMY, SM, TSPP, BSD, DH, KING PIN, Soccer, Taxi, Gamatron, DILE

TNT did a publicity stunt. Years later and people are still talking about it. Leaves no collector indifferent.
Over the years, since the dawn of the amusement industry, a lot more games were destroyed in a way less dramatic way.
That was the industry back then.
I knew operators that heated their shop with the wood from parted out cabinets.

"Every ball for me's another game. For you this always looks the same [...]
I know for you this doesn't look a lot. For me this is the only thing I got"

One last thing about the video posted by Shootagain, in Steve Kordek's speech, after naming 5 or 6 of the games that Barry Oursler designed, he says "oh and also "1985" Rat Race" , Rat Race was made in 1983, but Rat Race II was, for the least, designed in 1985 because there is no known prototype to exist, I think it's a revelation that Steve Kordek says that Barry Oursler deigned Rat Race II , if he was talking about Rat Race II, and maybe somewhere in the world there is a white prototype Rat Race II hiding in someones basement.
I want it....... :) :jumpy
