Replacement Boards

Postby Chris Silver » Fri Aug 10, 2018 5:27 am

What pinball machines have new replacement boards fabricated for them? What games should be avoided because it's impossible to find a replacement board for?

What are the kind of average prices to expect after shipping to Canada?
Pins: Lightning, Af-Tor, Embryon, Black Hole, Elektra, Stellar Wars, 8 Ball Deluxe LE, Timeline, Silverball Mania
Vids: Double Dragon 619-1
Gone: Space Station, Top Score, Flash Gordon, Solar Fire, Haunted House, Fire (x2), Vector, Bally Playboy, Tropic Isle, Beat the Clock, Blue-Chip
WTB: Punk!, Black Knight, Spirit, Fathom, Split Second, Nine Ball, Medusa
Its better to have played and lost than never to have played at all.

Can you be more specific as to what machine? That is quite a list. Most machines have one or 2 boards that are reproed.

GDS.... Google Dat Shit, ya lazy fucker. LOL
Now playing in Sparky's Power Station: Way too much shit...

At least your personality is better than your game play at the Borderland. ;)

The forums are a bit quiet during the summer so I'm trying to generate a casual topic. Mostly, I'm trying to pinpoint certain games to stay clear from because certain boards are unobtainium.

OK... OK... LOL Here, off the top of my head, on what I know:

Bally SS 1977-85: No problems whatsoever. Many are selling replacement MPUs, solenoid drivers and lamp drivers. Nvram sells some sound boards. So do these guys for the squawk N Talk (but 170€) https://mypinballs.com/electronics/store.jsp, so they are a safe bet.

Williams System 3-6: Also a good call. MPUs and drivers are out there (Rottendog for example). Power supply boards are easy. PinballPCB.com do a replacement sound board. So again, no issues here.

Williams System 7: Starts to get complicated. Rottendog boards have not been successful at all. PinballPCB also does one but I haven't heard if it is good or not.

Williams System 9: Fuggedaboudit.

Gottlieb System 1 to 80: NiWumpf and Pascal Janin boards. What used to be considered dead is now revived thanks to these.

I will let others chime in on WPC stuff and System 11. Not my thing.

If I recall correctly, no one makes a replacement system 11A display board.

Is there anyone in SW Ontario refurbishing boards?I have a solenoid driver board for a Bally Star Trek than isn't firing the outkicker/ball launch. Pretty sure it's the transistor. I looked at a parts order from great plains but it just doesn't seem worth it as I'm avoiding stocking up on bulk parts. I'm not really interested in carting the full machine around. It's a little difficult these days. I would rather take my chances on dropping off the component, having it repaired/ refurbished/ replaced and plug and play.

If only we were closer... I'd be glad to help you again.
