I played pinball in my teen years and had no idea that it really existed anymore since you rarely see them and I don't know the last time I saw an arcade. Then a year ago, my co-worker told me there were leagues and tournaments and got me hooked. I love playing and have met so many wonderful people because of this.
I got my first pin 2 days ago. It was given to me sight unseen and a couple of the guys from league picked it up for me and unfortunately found it was in rough shape and not in working order. They checked it out and told me that it would be quite a project to restore it and since I have no ability to do so, I sold it the next day. So keeping my eye out for my first actually owned and playable pin.
welcome! Do you have an idea what you're looking for? MAACA is pretty good at helping newbies find their first proper machine.

hello everyone, not sure if anybody is going to read this considering nobody posted anything for over a year
I am new to the forum, My name is Juan and I live in Kanata (west side of Ottawa) been living on this side of town for 10 years now and before that lived in Toronto for a bit and before that lived in other parts of the world. I am Argentinian-Canadian, retired photographer almost in my 40s with intentions to maybe acquiring a small collection of machines. I am interested the 90s models which are are the ones I grew up playing with and really enjoyed... It has been a few decades since I had a good pinball game, I did find a few now and then in Radom arcades but these were often run down machines with weak paddles or missing bulbs or what not... certainly nothing memorable... that and arcades dying in popularity over the last 20 years I can say that I have not touched a decent pinball machine in 25 years.
I know there are some places in Ottawa that can be found but never cared enough to look into it...
So back to my introduction:
I am interested in playing some 90s Williams games and hopefully acquire a few over the next few years. We will see how this evolves. I am also naturally inclined to tinker with things, I like repairing and restoring things but mostly in upgrading. I am very curious and also a natural trader, I would love to own a few machines and often rotate my collection, played fix them sell them and so on.
Looking forward to meeting people in Ottawa and perhaps joining the league! I have other hobbies of my own and this would be hobby #3 so that and being a dad will see how far this goes. I am looking forward to making friends in the Ottawa area and hoping to meet other pinball-ers on the West side!
Merry Christmas! hope we can all get back to our lives soon!
Of course we'll read your post! Merry Christmas, and welcome to MAACA! Ottawa is quite active, you'll also find some great advice and games here. As for making friends, that's a given!
