Look what I found

Post by mbudman »

I was visiting a neighbor's home. She has some vintage pinball machines. Look what was stuffed inside one of them:

Evel Knievel - $2195
Captain Fantastic $1275
Big Hit $1325
etc. etc. etc.

Adjusted for inflation, $2,195.00 in 1977 is equal to $9,475.20 in 2019.

Annual inflation over this period was 3.54%.

Very cool find!
I dug out an old 2004 starburst auction list with prices from one of my games... always interesting to see what stuff sold for.

Look at the typo for Jungle Princess on the third line. Someone had to type that whole list on a typewriter. No wonder the prices were good for 10 weeks.
Judge Dredd, Road Show, Last Action Hero, Rocky & Bullwinkle, Stargate, F14 Tomcat

So the price of a brand new premium arcade machine has generally been pretty steady with inflation? Good to know!

So equal time in the future it's going to be over $38,000 for a new machine today. LOL

I'm not sure we can 100% trust these online calculator. I don't think a Pro Stern is worth 9500$ yet.

But yeah, people don't always realize that, inflation exists, and you will be earning accordingly ;-)

Because I was bored and wanted to try out some OCR software I captured the OP's newly discovered price list into a searchable pdf.
