I bought the Hako FR-300. It seems to have been highly recommended by Pinside members and MAACA members over the years. Desoldering irons are a little pricey unless you are doing a lot of work with them but board work is something that I have wanted to learn more about and learning for me is the most fun part of the hobby.

I bought a Hakko 808 over 5 years ago and it's still awesome. But I'm pretty sure there's a newer version though. Tonnes of positive feedback: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic ... ost-716027

It appears the 808 was replaced by the FR-300 which was replaced by the FR-301. Thanks for the recommendations, I will definitely consider a Hakko if I decide to splurge.

I didn't really enjoy Connecticut all that much but the place where the cheeseburger was invented was swell and so was the arcade whose staff directed me to it!

Connecticut probably has lots of mediocre Yelp reviews.

Finished rubbering and waxing up my Hit The Deck....what a great pin. Now working on Capt Card,I have never seen plastics so dirty with an almost red soil on them.
I thought the "wow" stepper was going to be a pain as it's right in the back of the cabinet but *crosses fingers* so far just the alcohol/qtip cleaning has got it counting again.
PINS- Target Alpha/ Fire Queen/ Volley/ Tee'd Off/ Rollergames/ Star Trip/ Flip Flop/ Combat/ Flash Gordon/ Capt.Card/Bluenote/ Space Shuttle/Strange Science/Far Out/ Genesis/Bally Circus / Bally Beat The Clock/ Spanish Eyes/ Outer Space/Bronco

I had the pleasure of helping Heisenberg move around some games. We set up Space Shuttle and played a game, tripping balls over it all over again. LOL.

Great conversation, especially talking about his Camaro restoration. I need to dabble with cars again. I left cars to work on pinballs, but I do miss rebuilding and tuning engines.
Now playing in Sparky's Power Station: Way too much shit...

Today I finally hung the raiders of the lost arcade sign. then after pulling out. The 6 or 7 machines underneath I decided I would finally redo the numbers sign on my bally batting practice . I had made one a few years ago But the material was too thick to shine the red through. I had gotten another decal made quote awhile ago. But never got around to installing it with its mask until now.

The Raiders of the Lost Arcade sign is very nifty. So tempting. But I knew I would obsess about getting the 'Arcade' neon redone. I'm clueless about that. Are you going to redo it, singlezero?

Playmatic Space Gambler plays!

After some troubleshooting, found a few intermittent cold solder joints on the transformer Jones plug in the head. Fixed.
Next issue: some targets did not score. Luckily the schematics proved them to be on the same switch matrix row.
Actual issue: it appears the wire for that switch row was incorrectly pinned at the factory in the connector housing.
Moved the circled wire to its expected proper spot one pin below, now all targets properly score.

Still a few minor issues, but will not do much more work, as the machine will be for sale as-is for cheap shortly. I need the space.

Cheers,
-Sylvain.
