Great idea Mike. That game needs it. Those flippers must be good a strong now. You really are making me miss that game now. ;)

It was a super wierd feeling. The building didn’t have a ground to be found anywhere. I had just put a plug on the end of the cord, went to the wall and shook my head. It was the first time to be powered up in a very long time.

Btw, it was a Tag Team Colin. 8-)
Pins: Spirit, Centaur II, Af-Tor, Embryon, Black Hole, Elektra, Stellar Wars, 8 Ball Deluxe LE, Timeline, Silverball Mania, Panthera
Vids: Double Dragon 619-1
Gone: Space Station, Top Score, Flash Gordon, Solar Fire, Haunted House, Fire (x2), Vector, Bally Playboy, Tropic Isle, Beat the Clock, Blue-Chip, Disco, Punk!, Lightning, Time Fantasy
WTB: Black Knight, Fathom, Split Second, Nine Ball
Its better to have played and lost than never to have played at all.

If that Tag Team has a Gottlieb stock EMI filter and no isolation transformer, the "ground" (siderails, coin door, etc) will float at around 60-100V relative to any game or other metallic-cased appliance next to them. If someone puts a hand on both machines at the same time, they could easily be killed. It's a feeling that I've felt more than once... never at work as an electrician, but often at pinball venues. Enough times that now I'm very careful about touching two machines at the same time, since I don't know what condition the owner of a game has placed it in.

This is why Ontario Hydro made us all put in isolation transformers: at the time, ground wasn't always a common feature in every electrical installation, and every pinball manufacturer used these janky EMI filters that couple the incoming hot line to the game ground braid. Taking out an iso transformer (common practice these days, and not a good one) of an ungrounded game is extremely dangerous.

Well, I was home late Friday night and I busted my ass Saturday to clean up for a Borderland meeting Saturday night. I think it came out decent. And now I am out on the road again for the week.

Here is a post I did on Instagram on it.

18 or so pins were playable. A couple of vids as well. Good music, good company, and even the good old TOP tapels playing on the old TV. LOL

Hmm.... MPL meeting at some point?
Patron saint of lost pinball causes.

So I told myself not 2 hours before I am not going to get into another pinball restoration. I'm done. I even said that when someone was picking up Alien Poker just before I got into this.

I've had a Force II sitting on the back burner for years...Long enough I don't even remember where I bought it from or how much I paid for it! I was always waiting on finding a replacement backglass, as both the ones I have are in very poor condition. Until today I had never even plugged it in. I told myself, I'll just plug it in and see if it boots. Well the CPU boots but lots of issues that prevent play. First thing I wanted was to tackle the GI circuit it was out on the PF. Turns out there is a short somewhere. So i start my removing all the plastics to get to the bulbs/sockets.

2 hours later I have a mostly bare playfield and wonder what the hell did I get myself into? What is with this hobby??

ps - BG Resto has the artwork now for this machine.
