20-pin header replaced, mods applied to this Bally Rectifier board.
Just need to clean, apply thermal heatsink compound and re-assemble.
And ensure proper fuses/ratings are present.
Beautiful day to do this!

Re: What did you do today in the hobby?
Not exactly the hobby, but picked up this sweet little audio shelf today. Original Sony from I don't know what year. Complete with "Its a Sony" sticker, and the SONY logo. Particle board unit, with metal trim, silver t-moulding, and glossy black corner covers. The guy even left the tempered glass warning sticker in the corner. I think it's a great little unit! Got it for super cheap as well!
I've re-purposed it for my old original PS3, and PS4 and Playstation LED lighting. Stuck a couple albums in the bottom just to complete the look! Ha ha!

You captured my thoughts and sentiment exactly! Finding something like this recaptured a part of me I didn't even know I had lost. I wish all my Kijiji finds were as smooth and made me as happy as this cabinet does.

Re: What did you do today in the hobby?
Actually can say that after an 8-year hiatus, I'm baaaaaack (as of last Friday)!!!
2 project pins (both non-working)...and I mean PROJECT PINS!!!
One will need some LOOOOVE to bring it back to life. (at least it's complete, but the playfield will need touch ups....lots of them)
The other one...well...err...will need a hell-of-a-lot of loooooovin, to bring back to life, then make decisions (both $$$ and time) to make it actually look good.
If you think you've seen a rough game...you ain't seen nothin' yet!
What are they? Let me get the first one working, then I'll post a pic.
Jojo told me that she is confident I'll be able to bring them back to life...so let's see if she's right!
I am ready for the challenge (sorta)... gotta wait for some parts! LOL
more to come...eventually...

Re: What did you do today in the hobby?
I had this old Star Trek head that had mouse piss in the corner
It was only half good . So I cut it in half , cleaned it and hung it on my wall .
While I was cutting wood for Star Trek I cut a few more pieces . I finished one today and need a few more for myself and some pinheads

Re: What did you do today in the hobby?
Working on a Data East Torpedo Alley project for a MAACA member.
Many things were wrong or not working with the machine. Just a subset of the list:
- machine did not boot - MPU corrosion. Pickled board, replaced 3 chips sockets as well as found a bad 6808 CPU & EPROMs. Replaced. Booting fine now.
- burned knocker coil and associated shorted Q41 drive transistor - both replaced.
- switch matrix issue that was caused by previously poorly added wires to a coin switch that was shorted to ground - removed hack.
- missing screws on boards and a few on pop bumper assemblies under playfield - new screws installed.
- one speaker was not working on insert panel - thanks again Lee for a replacement! Bad speaker replaced.
- one dead display and garbled others - waiting for a replacement display board.
- numerous burned bulbs - replaced.
- no GI on left playfield side - caused by CN8 prior hack. New header, repinned with trifurcon pins, removed wires directly soldered
to the underside of the board, reflowed header pins. Working fine now. see pics below for that connector de-hack fix. Fun !
Also received a poor-condition Gottlieb Solar City for repairs/shopping. Missing most rubber rings, was a mouse house at some point,
score motor continuously running, stripped leg bolts/plates, etc.
Started by vacuuming inside the cabinet, removed the legs, gathered the parts needed, replaced a few fuses that were wrong ratings, etc.
Will be fun. The playfield should cleanup nicely.
Happy Flipping!

I recommend this for your tumbler: https://www.amazon.ca/Lyman-Turbo-Media ... 725&sr=8-9
Seems way more uniform and less messy than walnut from the pet store.
I use Mean Green in the ultrasonic.

Après avoir décidé de me mettre activement à la recherche du problème, j'ai finalement réussi à la mettre 100% fonctionnelle (avec un peu d'aide extérieure).

Re: What did you do today in the hobby?
Setup the new cockpit to work on it. At least this one is made to come apart into two pieces to move it.
Will try and fix the problems it has. If it doesn't work out, I will likely empty out the cab and put another game in it or mame it. Will see. This game has way too many boards/chips due to being one of the last machines that used only logic circuits (no microprocessor). Sorta works. Either way it will be a fun project. Gotta setup the Roadblasters cockpit beside it soon I hope.
