Today, I received a '77 Mattel Electronics Football!

Came with a leather case ... ?

… and I still have to add the 9v AC adapter (battery-freedom!) to the Football to join the handheld group in my office. :D

Btw, not that I care nor have I seen the movie yet, but this Football was kinda in the new Guardians of the Galaxy 2 movie (but they used the year 2000 version :? ).

FORE!

'83 Tandy Championship Electronic Golf came in the mail today!

Instructions decal on back was missing so I recreated it from a decent Epay image. PHEW! Now I know how to play!

... but I'm out of 9v AC adapters. Have to use a battery for now ...

GAME ON!

Did my first tube swap yesterday.
Was never happy with the monitor in my Killer Instinct cab.
Found a suitable 25" donor tube from a 2002 Sharp TV. Horizontal/Vertical yoke readings were very close to those of a K7000, so I did the swap and kept the TV yoke in place (I know there are debates on whether one should do this, but I didn't want to mess with convergence and purity settings). Results were overall good. Nice to see vibrant colors back in my game!

Pic of game running with new tube

Put the old tube in the TV frame. Will drop at recycling center this weekend after I strip the yoke off of it.

A few days ago, I made my '83 Chexx a little more flexible to go down narrow stairs, not unlike new Chexx bases.

I finished clear-coating my 1954 Williams Spitfire playfield. This was my first time clear-coating -- I used SprayMax 2K (from Napa Canada). Got the last coat down on the last possible day weather-wise! Ended up using 3 cans, had some fish eye on the first few coats but sanded most of it out.

I ended up buying this buffing kit: https://www.eshine.ca/collections/porte ... 5-ccs-pads

I wet sanded the playfield to 3000 grit and then buffed. You need to compound for a lot longer than I figured to get the sanding scratches out, looks pretty good now. Not perfect, but I was not trying to achieve perfection on this old playfield anyway so it is all good!

Next up is to repopulate the playfield.

We had some minor flooding a while back and so today I said goodbye to my machines as contractors moved around the basement, effectively blocking access to the pins for a while. Alas! Jonesing...

And yes I know early reviews are skewed, and yes it's only pinside etc, but this made me smile:

Spooky and JJP with games in the top 10!

Did heavy shopping on my Elvira. Full topside teardown, cleaning, waxing. Installed a makralon playfield protector and waxed it. Removed a mod to the boogie men, which had been replaced with plastic skeletons. The mod damaged the original posts, which are unobtanium, so I 3D printed replacements in orange. Also found the support bracket was failing and cracking with fatigue, so repaired with angle brackets and jbweld. Replaced flipper rubber with green titan competition rings. Final step was to crank up the game's hind legs to play at maximum angle. This thing now plays at a million miles an hour.
In the house: Theatre of Magic, Elvira and the Party Monsters, Doctor Who, Last Action Hero, High Speed 2: The Getaway, Taxi.

On the hunt for: Addams Family, Funhouse

Some Spitfire 'before' and 'after' pictures. Someone sprayed crap all over the playfield, I had to remove all of the clear coat with isopropyl alcohol.

I touched up wear spots and replaced all inserts. All repainting was done with aid of the Silhouette Cameo cutter and GerberMask Ultra, airbrush and Createx Auto Air paints. That includes all of the painting on the inserts.

I didn't want to totally repaint this playfield, it still shows signs of age but bare wood spots are all fixed.

You can see the flipper wear spot here in the right "Kicks Green Field" banner:
