Beer, Wine, & Spirits are the one non-necessity that there is NO WAY they can close unless they want to cause riots. They may end up dramatically reducing the amount of physical contact (perhaps a return to the old 80's model of the LCBO where you had to go up to a counter and retrieve a box of your order?), but otherwise they won't screw with the supply of pacification chemicals!

I am saddened by the closure of all the Brew Pubs I normally haunt, which is making it difficult for me to obtain fresh draught beer. Luckily I have a nice 70's era Perly portable beer fridge (thanks, Pinhead!) and was able to buy a partial keg from the Cheshire Cat before they had to shut down.

Covered Bridge Brewing in Stittsville is doing delivery to your door, so local microbrew is still available. https://www.coveredbridgebrewing.com/

On Sunday I started a five gallon batch of hefeweizen and I'll probably get an English bitter on in the next couple of days. I've got more time to spend at home right now, and with travel plans for the next six months drying up, it looks like I'll be gardening this summer too. I'll be trading my fresh vegetables for pinball machines by the end of this thing.

On a side note: the alcohol distribution has to stay open. Those that have developed dependencies can suffer life-threatening withdrawal, further straining our limited health care system. The LCBO is open because closing it could quite literally kill people.

Now, why construction sites are open is an entirely different question...

Ah, good tip! Only 12-cans minimum order for delivery too!

The mayor of Denver attempted to close liquor stores as non-essential. No rioting, but lots of quiet round-the-block lineups and grocery-carts full of booze being purchased by desperate souls. Needless to say they eventually backed down on the order.

As you say, for some it is an addiction, and at the other end of the scale are those who think no one should drink, but in my mind the definition of civilization is a good espresso in the morning and a nice IPA in the evening, and somewhere in between the leisure to work on an old pinball machine! Without these things, living is just survival.

Well, the other thing is during times of prohibition, people turn to desperation. Closing beer stores and dispensaries means that people will turn elsewhere.
