I wish they would have created these using titles that haven't already been done. Use some of the virtual tables that have been created. I think that would have hit home with the likes of us pinball fanatics then.

I don't like them, however I see how it's going to be good for the hobby. As people will discover arcades and pins, some will migrate to the big leagues eventually. More players, more games available, bigger market. Arcades and pins back to the golden age? Maybe not, but it's suddenly a market that is moving again.

Lastly..

Arcade1Up, the company that sells officially licensed arcade cabinets of popular games, exclusively told Yahoo Finance that it met two monumental sales goals.

In less than two years, the company sold its 1 millionth cabinet (which can range in price from $300 - $500)

Sales have surged 96% week-over-week since March (pandemic)

Depending on price in Canada, these could do well and bring more ppl to this hobby, as well as drop the pricing on the Virtual Pinball machines currently available. While it is true that VP just isn't the same, at least it brings additional exposure.

Keep in mind that there are other VP's out there available at big box stores in the U.S., such as this one...

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Haunted-Hous ... /211973564

Never seen one in person though...

The info is mis-leading...

The reason why they sold so many since March-April is the fact that Wal-Mart USA were liquidating many titles for DIRT CHEAP, read $1 for Asteroids/Space Invaders and $75-150 for their other "Version 1" models. The version 2 (i.e.: MK, TMNT, Marvel) were at "full pop". Can't wait for the border to open so I can go and pick up my Final Fight machine at my friends' place in Maryland... 8-)

Actually not that bad!

They're cheaply made (especially the initial batch), but for the price (when they are on sale...or know where to look), I personally think it's an OK bang for the buck.

Assembly is similar to any other cheap furniture like Ikea or Canadian Tire bookshelf.

The "version 1" had crappy control panels (they would wear off easily, to the point Arcade1up sent transparent covers), and the joysticks were crap, but the version 2 ones uses sanwa joysticks and they fixed the wear issue.

I have 2 of them right now, one of which I will either convert to a Retropie/Multicade or sell to buy a Version 2 to do that). There are TONS of youtube videos and websites that tell you how to convert them "on the cheap".

I am in the process of building risers for them...but I do have small benches that are the perfect size to play them.

Just promise you won't do those lol (except during Christmas and only as a joke!)

I have 8 Arcade 1ups in my basement. Would love full sized arcade machines but the wife hates them and I am Pinball first.

The 1ups are the perfect compromise. They fill in the spots where Pinball machines don't fit nicely. Even modded one of them to fit a mini Bar Fridge Into it.

OH GOOD GOD!!! :o Hell no!!!

I like mine "original"...

You can convert to a retropie with roughly $150 worth of parts, (usually) easily available on Ebay or Amazon. This includes changing the joysticks and buttons to a (slightly) better quality.

You can also find the PCB's for cheap on kijiji once in a while...compatibility depends on the PCB title and your machine title as they made changes between V1 and V2 (i.e.: video connectivity).

Your best bet if you want to convert to a "mulitcade" is to either pick-up a Street Fighter II (V1) or Marvel Super Heroes (V2).

The other option is pick up their cocktails, which have more games per machine and some are available through costco.ca

I agree that many dislike them, but all in all, they're not that bad! :)

Arcade 1up look sweet but they are very far from the real video game arcade experience.
I strongly suggest the mame experience that can be almost 100% real for a very reasonnable investment.

I'm pretty sure the cabinet would collapse if I did that. CRT Monitor probably weighs more than the entire 1up cabinet.
