PGA tour golf team challenge

Post by LemonJimmy »

I have a PGA tour golf team challenge that I’d like to fix, I know next to nothing about arcade games
When I bought the game it was working, but I banged it around bit too n by way and now it doesn’t work
Originally after getting it home it would turn on but it wouldn’t move past the Home Screen, now that doesn’t even happen
Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated
Thanks

The PGA Tour Golf machines are PC's so the standard computer troubleshooting items apply to fix your game not booting.

rule #1 :
open it up and observe. Any unplugged wires?

as per John Jones above, next would be to open up the pc and make sure everything is also plugged in properly.

Pictures if you're not sure will help us help you!

I just got a Championship edition. When I got it home it would start to boot and then go to a black screen. As suggested it was just a loose connector, hope it's the same for you!

Ok, I opened it up and I have a ton of stuff not connected, I tried fumbling my way through it, trying to match up male/female loose ends, without any success

I took some pictures of the inside of the cabinet, however, I’m having a hard time posting them, how can I do this, I’m pretty much computer illiterate, but I do have help here if someone can point me in the right direction

Yes, a lot of loose wires, it appears some were never in use , but it also looks like some shouldn’t be loose

Thanks for your response

I’ve found a bunch of loose wires, I’m hoping that’s the cause of my problems

How do you like the game?

Thanks for responding

well I have that exact setup for my Need for Speed Underground racing machines.
The manual for your game is here:
https://service.globalvr.com/downloads/ ... Manual.pdf

Detailed wiring here
https://service.globalvr.com/downloads/ ... tailed.pdf

page 61/64 shows the connections to the PC:
pga.png
1- That unplugged USB cable you are showing appears to be from the smartcard reader, and would go the the "pci usb port to smartcard reader" port from the picture above.
These GLOBALVR setup will not work if everything is not plugged in and detected properly.

2- make sure you have the game "dongle" properly plugged in.

3- also make sure the USB Port on USBI/O CardTo PCI USB Port is plugged in. so that would be one square side of the USB cable go in that card and the other side goes in the "pci usb card" below.

3- "Originally after getting it home it would turn on but it wouldn’t move past the Home Screen, now that doesn’t even happen ",

Could you tell us a bit more:
- is there power to the computer? fan powered?
- is there power to the screen?
- That added powersupply is an accident waiting to happen! try to secure it so it is not loose and banging around. and does that have power too? fan running in there?

I found the port, the second port had a piece of plastic in it
I still get nothing on the screen
Screen has power, computer has power, both fans are on
The extra power is plugged in , no fan running, I unplugged it used power from the computer instead

All that’s happening is an intermittent seven second beep

The discs were damaged, should I buy new ones, I thought once they were downloaded they were in there for good

Thanks Ryan
