Hey everybody! It’s that time of year again. The plan is to do another Hawkesbury Flea Fair the first weekend in June as it has always been since 2014 minus the pandemic.

It will be at the Olympia Bowl in Hawkesbury and as always, the flea market is free for whoever wants to sell anything. This is a free event for collectors and family/friends only. It is not open to the general public. The only thing we have to do is buy beer which is under five dollars a bottle to support their generosity. It would also be fantastic if people did some bowling.

Fred and the gang from Moonshine BBQ Smokehouse has agreed to come back and support us and keep you fed. Their food is ridiculously amazing and it would be fantastic if you support them as well.

Now this is a free event. I have a complicated work schedule away from home on a regular basis. If you guys want to do this, we will need pinball machines. I would like to see around 20 machines show up for sale or freeplay. If we can’t reach these numbers I’ll cancel the event. It’s not a problem and will be understandable if there’s a lack of interest. The Hawkesbury Flea Fair is an event for the collectors by the collectors. The primary purpose is to socialize, network, sell your stuff and buy whatever you want. It is also to support all companies in the pinball industry (dealers, operators, repair techs, etc.). We’ve had over 35 machines in the past, but this year let’s keep it simple.

It’s been a long time and I look forward to seeing old friends.

So want to come, so far away. I've never made this event because it resides on the same day as 2 other events I usually attend, but i think those are out this year.

Normally for the flea fair outside of Canada PinCon I insist people only bring one game max unless they’re selling because I don’t want anyone to overstress. I figure you’re transporting a few from A to B so I’ll give you the exception.

STTNG isn’t a good tournament game.

That can be a game that has long ball times for a good player or a game that has a flaw in its ruleset that can be exploited like TOM THEATRE letters or the TOTAN lamp.
You want a settings to remove all randomness making the awards deterministic. You also want to remove the possibility of extra balls (Road Show comes to mind).
The worst example of an unfair award I can think of is the double score award in Bullwinkle, or a game that allows to steal locks or points from your opponent.
Games with an extra bonus round for the winner are also annoying in a tournament.

We can also look at how there are features that makes games bad for A-division players, but fine for other groups because most of us aren't talented enough to exploit them.
Likewise some features are exploitable by B-level players, but not the rest.

Watching people like Bowen Kerins loop the upper ramp of Doctor Who over 100 times is the kind of things that makes me realize there is a huge difference in skill levels

The nice thing about get together’s, conventions and tournaments is that it gives you the motivation to get things moving.
