TSPP , LOTR .... or Tuition .... ?

Post by Steph »

Well, I just got the latest invoice for ONE SEMESTER of my son's University program.

tui2a.jpg

... and if that was not enough, my youngest son (who plays U18 AAA Hockey ), needed new skates...

IMG_0430s.JPG

(... with the second set of replacement blades, custom boot molding, and taxes, it came to over $1600 !
..... FOR SKATES !!! )

My wife says I should sell either my prestine HUO TSPP, or prestine HUO LOTR pin.

If I get offered enough for either pin to pay for the tuition, I might consider it. ;-)

EDIT : NO. After sleeping on it, I'm not ready to sell my pins. ( The kids , yes, but not the pins ! ) ;-)

$11,159 (more or less...) .
[ As you can see, I'm not very motivated to sell ... ;-) ]

Sorry, I would NEVER sell either pin for $7K.

Yes... $1000+ for damn skates !!!!
(... Goalie pads are $2500, Helmet $900, Blocker, Glove, Pants and Chest protector are about $400 EACH ... )
His gear is worth more than my car !!!

He's 16 yrs old, Going into Grade 10 (Secondaire 4)
.... but he's a pretty good goalie. ;-)
[ He's 16 yrs old playing in a U18 league with Jr. A kids taking shots at him ... hence the "higher-end" goalie gear.. ]

I'm not delusional enough to think that he'll make it to the Big Leagues,
but I'm cautiously optimistic that he "might" get a University Scholarship for a US NCAA school .... maybe...

If so, then the skates will have been worth it !

;-)

To be honest, I have no idea what half of those fees are.

"Apparently" you can dispute some, but is it worth the hassles for a few $100's ?

Maybe when my son gets into the later years ( 3 & 4) we'll know what they're for.

OMG !

As updated in my original post, no , I'm not ready to sell either pin .

I did actually get some inquiries, but I KNOW I would regret selling them .

I sold a minty TZ about 8 years ago (for similar reasons), and have regretted it ever since.

I might sell my kids instead .... would solve all my problems ! ;-) [ Not ! ]

So sorry for any false hope, but I'm not ready to sell either pin .

Medical/dental insurance is probably one of those fees you can dispute. This insurance for students is very cheap though. The only catch is they are second payer if the parent has family coverage at work.
Make sure you teach your kid how to make good use of it. Somehow it's been a struggle to teach my daughter this is free money if she just takes a minute to understand how it works.

Some fees are optional and you can opt out. All listed on Waterloo’s site.

Just got back from a straight drive from Waterloo to Ottawa. My son (in CS) has an even higher bill :FP: .

Let’s hope co-op kicks in and helps pay for it.

If he has a shot at the NHL then go ahead and get him skates. If not, he seems to have enough strength and energy to get a job and buy a pair.

The other son, education is important. The sooner he moves out to his new spectacular career the sooner you gain another room to put pins in. You and the wife can start buying good cheese and butter again.

You’ll be able to walk around the house naked and make a sandwich. None of this is possible with a 30 year old pot smoker living in your basement drinking your beer.

There are a lot of reasonably priced EMs and early solid states out there if you humble back a bit and enjoy some old-school pinball.
Pins: Spirit, Centaur II, Af-Tor, Avatar, Embryon, Timeline, Baby Pac Man, SkyJump, Night Moves, Split Second
Gone: Space Station, Top Score, Flash Gordon, Solar Fire, Haunted House, Fire (x2), Vector, Bally Playboy, Tropic Isle, Beat the Clock, Blue-Chip, Disco, Punk!, Lightning, Time Fantasy, 8 Ball Deluxe LE, Double Dragon, Stellar Wars, Alien Poker, Panthera, Elektra, Blackout, Black Hole, Black Knight, Silverball Mania
WTB: Medieval Madness, Rush
Its better to have played and lost than never to have played at all.

I have a good arrangement with my neighbours. I can’t see what happens on their side of the chain-link fence, and they can’t see what happens on mine.
