Seeburg 222 jukebox restoration

Post by Faza »

Hi

I recently imported a Seeburg 222 from the USA to Sydney Australia to restore, this is my first jukebox restoration and I figure I will need help along the journey.
I have posted a few pictures to show my progress so far.
I am putting together a list of replacement parts as postage from USA to Oz is a killer.
Pulling the front grill apart on this is a nightmare and I have visited AMX's 222 restoration so many times trying to figure it out, finally got there and it is completely apart.
So far I need a new stylus needle it arrived without one
Amp and selector reciever require rebuild
Bodywork and painting, rechroming , new side glasses (sent with jukebox) .

Cheers

John

A quick update frame has been patched with fiberglass filler and sanded smooth ready for painting.
Anyone have any good scans of the interior paperwork?
Removing the anti theft screw from the cash box was a bitch but got there with the use of a dremel
I have purchased a as new 500W stepdown isolation transformer and still compiling a list of parts required.
Slow and steady but getting there.
Hopefully have the box painted in the next few weeks.

What paperwork? I have a pretty much unmolested 222. It might still be in there. Saving that most of the Seeburg ol'timer repair guys that might have what you're after are on this group. https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/see ... nclub/info
Pins: Scared Stiff - Getaway - Funhouse - Twilightzone - No Fear - Attack from Mars - Indiana Jones - Cirqus Voltaire (prototype) - Medieval Madness - Tales of Arabian Nights. Arcades: Robotron (cocktail) - Stargate - Midway Haunted House. Jukes: Seeburg 100c - Seeburg 222.
Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated.

Guys sorry about the lack of updates this was always going to be a long project, thanks for the offers of help with the paperwork I have managed to track down what I needed.
Progress has been made, new side glasses have been installed all the aluminium extrusion has been polished and all sheetmetal has been painted with decals installed.
A few years ago you could buy a remote volume kit for this machine I contacted the guy who made these but he didn't have any plans to make any more.
I found a site where a guy used Arduino to drive a remote potentiometer so thought I'd give it a crack.
Unfortunately the Arduino used in the example had been superseded making the code that had been written unusable.
I then spent the weekend learning to code for the new updated hardware.
Works very well I added 2 auxiliary relays one for the record reject and a spare for an aux input at a later date.
All parts are back from being re chromed and I am almost ready to reinstall the front panels, I have had a problem repainting the channel 1 and channel 2 Perspex signs.
I purchased new classification plastics but wasn't happy with the quality you can see in the attached picture what I'm talking about the left pic is the original the middle is after I've cleaned it up in Photoshop and the right pic is the new reproduction.
I have fixed the colours and am getting replacements printed hopefully they turn out better than the reproductions.
I wasn't sure of the best method to whiten the yellowed keys I decided the safer option was to block sand them and then polish very happy with the results .

The correct castor wheels have been installed, the metal trim around the kickboards that always seems to be broken has been joined by tig welding and repolished very happy with th final result.
Channel plastics cleaned ready for painting
