Awesome. I'm going to enjoy watching you redo the veneer. I have an old transistor radio I would like to attempt to refurb so hopefully this thread helps me.

Receive the new veneer and starting the reveneer process.

The veneer is cut a little bit bigger and trim when it’s glue.

I used contact ciment to glue it, need to put two coat with 15 min curing time between the coat.

After that, i trim the exces with an exacto aand sand paper.

I start de trickiest part of the veneer...

The front where the glass and plastics is made in four section And there is a recess that i have to take care... so i used a template to pre-cut the veneer to have less sanding to do

I also start stain test...

1 or 2 coat, still don’t know. I was under the impression with more coat, i will mask the burl a little bit, but look like the opposite... i will put some clear to have a better idea.

Last piece of veneer glue today... i keep the most difficult for the end.

There is a lot of cut out in the front piece, so I was a bit nervous

30A0A229-E87F-4684-887B-9AA99B5CA7B1.jpeg
When it’s glue, i cut the exces with and exacto from behind
66C42AFA-DE61-4B0C-9380-37931FB11680.jpeg
i have to cut the hole... i use fostner bit to drill hole, start from the back to just have a guide when i will drill from the front. I also put some tape to help the veneer to not chip...
