I can't speak for everyone, but I personally have never confused the two companies. I pride myself on being a very observant person, and still never considered it. Your logos are both ovular, but are as distinct as the people behind them.

I am excited for this.

Like Fifty said! No confusion on my part.

Really looking forward to visit one day to play those games at the Montreal Arcade, we go about every two weeks over at the Ottawa Arcade. $10 for unlimited games, beer and wings for an extra $10, can't beat that. Meeting peeps from hobby is the best part! I can pick up stuff that I ordered on Pinball Medics' website, been really helpful as well.

Yes ofcourse, people on MAACA know the difference, but, not so clear for the average pinball homeowners I deal with daily for parts and service. I get calls and questions for the other Rob all the time and he does as well, yet it is so easy to make it clear by the proper use of the company names. I hate to resort to lawyers and cease and desists crap for such petty bullshit but if that is the way to go instead of a litlle good will and clear communication in order to avoid all these misunderstandings then so be it.

I simply object to the voluntary use of the words Montreal Pinball in the way they advertise themselves on the web and on MAACA, - maybe HPR is right, and that there is no more community when business gets in the way. I never advertised myself (RAB) as a MAACA retailer because I knew something more important than business was happening here before the all this confusion got spurred on.

I had a long talk with Mike about this back in the day and he sounded completely defensive and saying that it was legal. Yes it is, Montreal Pinball enr is my small registared company since March 2016 and I understand that the wrods Montreal & Pinball can be used together, but maybe the use of a little discretion would have been a classier way to operate in our small group. I have been using that name way before they slowly appropriated it in their adverstising, and my reputation is something I built over decades and I will protect it from the confusion being created. I have known Mike "the President" since 1998 and I always felt that he wasn't completely forthright in our exchanges, my perception was that there was always something nervous, awkward and off center when he would talk with me.

I try to never get involved in other people's disputes,
and the very few times I do, I try to remain as neutral as possible.

I think the point RAB is trying to make is that Mike's company is Pinball MEDICS ,
yet the word "Medics" (which is a key differentiater) is not used in promoting this event
and instead uses "Montreal Pinball" which is RAB's registered company name.

If your company name is "Pinball Medics", that should arguably be the name you should be trying to promote.
I think that's all RAB was saying in his initial post (ie. just use the word "Medics" to differentiate yourself )

That said, I'd like to think that Mike (or Pinball Medics) was not deliberately trying to cause RAB any grief
and that this was likely more just a case of inadvertent messaging.

---

I can certainly see both points of view, and the higher level of anxiety because this is the livelihood for BOTH of you,
but hopefully this can be resolved without litigation....

---

As for the broader conversation about the site going down the toilet because of greed and commercialism,
I beg to differ...

I think society in general is in a much higher level of angst and anguish than just a few years ago
(war, covid, right wing populism, climate change, economy, ...pick one...)
and it spills over into every social facet.

Yes, some posts will get testy, but I still thoroughly enjoy the various restoration threads I see every month,
and despite the naysayers, we would ALL miss this site if it was shut down.

Better still, I think we owe a HUGE debt of gratitude to all the Admins who have the thankless job of keeping this site going.

...and on that note, time for another MAACA donation. ;-)

That post right there.....for those that know me up there, I'm from a far distant land [Utopia  ] and I know NOTHING about some of the silly feuds I've heard talk of up there. So this is just an observation from an outsider, when I read the title I thought it was RAB's gig because "Medics" was not in the title. That's it, that's all....

Surely putting your company name in the title wouldn't be a lot to ask to avoid any conflict? I'd sure want 'Guard" in anything I was promoting to strengthen my name brand.

As in I need to get back to working on 'Guard's Deadly Weapon"........and this pinball machine also. :FP:

Keep it fun folks, life can be terribly short....

Making your way in the world today
Takes everything you've got
Taking a break from all your worries
Sure would help a lot
Wouldn't you like to get away?

Sometimes you want to go
Where everybody knows your name
And they're always glad you came
You want to be where you can see
Our troubles are all the same
You want to be where everybody knows your name

All those nights when you've got no lights
The check is in the mail
And your little angel
Hung the cat up by its tail
And your third fiancé didn't show

Be glad there's one place in the world
Where everybody knows your name
And they're always glad you came
You want to go where people know
People are all the same
You want to go where everybody knows your name

Where everybody knows your name
And they're always glad you came
Where everybody knows your name
And they're always glad you came
Where everybody knows your name
And they're always glad you came
Where everybody knows your name

Maaca does not seem to disappoint with the much unneeded soap opera and drama off the pinball archenemies.

I go away for a few days and come back to this shite of a show, missed all the action… on purpose really, but I cannot hold myself any longer. Watching this unfold was like watching a 2 hour car accident.

My microwave has been cooking popcorn non stop I think my hydro bill will be so high I will be more broke than the guy trying to sell his pinball to pay for braces and university bills.

A part of me wanted to see more activity on the Bond thread, or maybe something, you know… even remotely interesting from the pinball world. But no, instead I get 2 pages of a bunch of grown ass men with sweaty ass cracks fighting about a stupid name on a forum.

By the way, let me break it to you, both names actually suck balls and are boring as shite.

Since nobody will chime in to help, let me give you a hand with some:
The Cade
Decade
Pinworld
Pinball world
Pinlandia
Pinitup
Cadeup
Pinmasters

But no instead we have Montreal Pinball and The Montreal Pinball.
Are you guys for real? Were you guys even trying?

It really is ridiculous. I will make it a task for myself I will call both businesses pretending to be a client calling the other place.
For real guys, try harder:
I have not heard anything less original since, wait for it, a shawarma restaurant name: the shawarma prince, the shawarma princess, the shawarma king, the shawarma brothers…. You get the idea here.

That shit is confusing. Good food though but I go by memory reqlly because I cant recall which royalty member I am visiting.

You guys worry about this pinball thing! But those shawarma guys are ffffd big time. The lawsuits there must be through the roof.

I thing will join a forum for lawyers, I am sure that there I will find postings about the places that are fighting and suing each other over their names, or who knows, maybe they are bitching about who has the biggest rolex.

Yes nothing poetic about this. My ass is sweaty as well, is midnight and I am here reading this crap.. Crack one open, celebrate life, chill the f out.
Life is too short.

This forums is boring as hell, I can smell the moth balls smell a mile away.

Maybe we can add something else rather than these high school drama.

Jokes aside. Chill!

Now seriously. Chill.
