Artist wanted for OPL Logo.

Post by Murphelman »

Hello,

We are looking for someone creative to help create an Ottawa Pinball League Logo (OPL)

It does not need to be super complex. Just something cool that we can do on T-shirts etc.

If you can help out with something please let me know as that would be fantastic.

Cheers!

Mike

Christine from Pinball Women Ottawa is a graphic designer. She just knocked out a bitchin' logo for us gals this summer. Maybe she'd take on the OPL league's.

I'm not going to suggest I'm a good artist by any means, but I did have a concept that someone could put some actual effort into.

EDIT 10 hours later: I tried harder, went with a neon sign aesthetic.

Jason F. is spectacular.

Murrsky has done all my art since 2013 but is all over the country with work right now. He'd probably be pissed I just mentioned him... haha.

If you fly Dirty Donny into Ottawa 3 times, have some weirdo circumstance fuck up the whole trip each time, he might take pity on you. Then just give you some real banging artwork. Gotta play the long game sometimes.... LOL

But seriously though, there are alot of great artists in town that are pinball fans. Jennilee Murray is a great artist, Pat Buck and Jesse Germs are amazing graffiti and tattoo artists. They did all the walls at TARG, and Pats spray painted murals are some of the best graffiti I've seen...ever.

I put this together for a Logo for a Logo. It is simple and new schoolish which is kind of what I wanted. I am not a graphic artist or anything but I thi k it looks ok. I have the original file of the ball if anyone wants to try to run with it too.

Here are a few examples. Which one do you prefer?

The coloured-in version is definitely better than the monochrome version of the logo. Not terribly fond of the font choice, but I don't have an alternative to recommend off the top of my head.

I know what it's supposed to be, but I can't unsee the logo being an angry fish. Perhaps making the ball head/face a silver colour, while leaving the flames yellow and orange, might help with that.

Centre the ball and add a plunger maybe?
I like the “angry ball”... maybe steal the font from angry birds.

Please don't tell me you guys are gonna use this! it's literally a clipart, I totally understand that Mike you are not a graphic designer and you did your best with what you had, but My gosh there is real artist in this community, let try to do something better once for all. If we're gonna make a t-shirt or something with this let's do something wearable and not a sun has a pinball. Again I don't want to bash I think it`s great that you try, but I am tired to see stuff like this.

I helped Dirty Donny for his new logo, maybe I can do something for the OPL, but what's the purpose for the logo? T-shirt? merch? or simply a logo for a logo?

sorry for the verbal diarrhea
