Iron Man Magnet core replacement

Postby pinhead » Fri Feb 07, 2020 10:15 pm

I bought this game new in box in April 2010, I love the game, we played over 300 games on the first night. The game has been rock solid from day one, I have only had to repair small things.

Tonight I finally got around to upgrading the magnet core. The most I have ever had to do to this great beast.

I am sure the game has over 100,000 plays but it only shows almost 93,000 since the last upgrade.

Anyway, I removed the original magnet core and drilled a bigger hole in the playfield and added the newer style magnet core. I turned out not bad. Here are some pics.

Thanks! It is scary drilling a big hole in a playfield but this game has been played and needed help. I am going to do the other hole tomorrow. It is apart, I would be stupid not too.

It does look great. It just sad that Stern could not have done it themselves like that to begin with.

So how does this bigger magnet work? Is the core active and the outer ring inert like stainless steel?

Yes the core is active and it has a stainless steel outer ring.
