Do and don't with a pinball.

One of many thing. Do not try to removed or installed a playfield from the machine by yourself, unless your 6'5 and got Arnold pipe, usually the end result is not good. For me some broken plastics. Body system is the way to go.Who is next with a story?

Never use a leaf asjuster or anything metal under the playfield while the machine is on.
I shorted a pop bumper switch with my leaf adjuster and now High Speed is out of service.
I know ..noob rule of thumb..
It's only Pinball! Carry on, BUCKO!

Never remove or forget to install the key plug and then reverse a connector on an early SS Stern or Bally display, unless you like your MPU to shoot out a 6-inch flame.
Patron saint of lost pinball causes.

Don't press the lockdown bar down on a Stern with the coin door keys inside the cabinet.

Never do any serious work under the playfield below the pivot without first securing the playfield from pivoting. :FP:

I don't see how this one can be true? I have taken the playfield out of almost all my pins by myself. I do have one though. Don't try to LED your new Stern while it's still plugged in and on! I blew the board on my Xmen once by doing this because the wire slipped out of my hand and connected with a bare coil wire :o

I think raising the pf of any pins while it's ON is never a good idea..

I blew a bridge rectifier on my BSD by doing so, I assume something shorted cause it rebooted instantly, bad feeling at it's best..

Don't buy a Bally Elektra (could just stop there!) and see a ton of black solenoid dust under the lucite playfield, and think "Hey, I could clean that up nicely if I removed it". Turns out you basically have to strip the game down to the wood, and 10 minutes after you re-install everything, the lucite will be dirty again!

Don't buy a pinball machine and move it after freezing rain. Did that years ago. Was really lucky I fell into a snow bank and didn't get injured.

Don't tell the Wife how many pinball machines you have in total: That number is never to be revealed! You can't complain about "one more" if you don't know how many there are!

Never mess with display power wire with power on. I did this, shorted it to the back box door hinge. Little did I know that it was way ovet fused which took out the transformer and high voltage section of the power supply.

A good idea that when you get a new pin, make sure fuses are correct amperage.
