That's a lot of money for a 1988 machine with a 2008 LCD display to be sold new in 2018.
I wish them the best but for that kind of cash there has to be something to put it on par with other machines at the price point.

I have always been a proponent of the idea that you could take an EM layout and make it super complex with contemporary coding, but.... at 7500? nah
boutique pinball is it's own little world. Limited runs, collectors amok, etc, but these things aren't cheap to make. Just makes me wonder why they went the layout they did?

That was a 1:30 video of a pinball hitting bumpers. I want to be positive about it though. It did look very shiny.
I am with Cait on this one. I think I've said it in the past as well too about re-doing simple EM layouts but man... money, money, money... I guess it's good that people are paying for $7500+ machines. It makes others think they can build pinball machines too and the more people building the better.
Me, I'll never be able to justify a pin for this price. I joined this hobby too late.

"Escapism Pinball" is redoing EMs with SS technology. Unfortunately, when thisweekinpinball contacted them, Escapism said these pinballs are not in active production, that's why the weekly round-up does not list them.

I don't understand why a company would do a mafia theme pinball when Circus Maximus already said they are remaking Kingpin.

I like the idea but the price is way too much for what it appears to offer. Maybe if they only do 100 it may be sought after and become highly collectible but the game it self does not justify the cost. I will take my Iron Maiden over this every time.

So many innovative things on this machine!!
The first pinball machine since the wood rail machines to not come with a metal lockdown bar (Instead it's plastic).
The first pinball machine in history to come with a plain white playfield with no graphics of any kind applied directly to it. (inexpensive overlay)
The first pinball machine since the 80's to have a single speaker in the cabinet. (no annoying stereo sound for you)
The first pinball machine to use an off the shelf MPU (Rasberry Pi 3 retail $25-35)
The first pinball machine based on an older EM style layout to not come with a metal upper ball guide or any metal guides (all plastic) Should last forever.
The first pinball machine to come with a fake plastic apron. Technically not an apron at all.
There are so many innovations I can't keep track, a cabinet with butt-jointed corners (no mitered joints).
Decals on the cabinet and backbox (no silk-screening) An inexpensive $35 10" LCD monitor and I bet the back glass isn't glass at all!!
And all for the low low price of $8-8500!!
Why buy a brand new Pirates of the Caribbean Pinball Machine or any Stern for nearly $2000 less when you can have this generic themed beauty!!

Didn't the Spanish manufacturers do this in the 80's? I heard their playfields were indestructible.3rdaxis wrote:The first pinball machine in history to come with a plain white playfield with no graphics of any kind applied directly to it. (inexpensive overlay)

No they used acrylic playfields with the art printed directly on the underside.

There was cheap press board under the plastic layer but the playfields usually still look amazing even 40 years later.
