WELCOME TO MAACA-TV!!!

Postby Sparky » Tue Aug 20, 2013 7:59 pm

Greetings to all!

We have decided to rebadge the videos section to MAACA-TV! Why? Because we have big plans for it! First off, keep posting your videos here! whether it be about a game in play, high scores, or whatever!

In my case, I have decided to close my Pinregen site (as I am not a webmaster... LOL) and focus my activities here. I will post all my restoration videos here, along with a lot more tips-and-how-to's videos on everything like how to fix a cabinet, how to use a multimeter, how to test certain components, and generally how crap works!! I hope to help out the many new people that are wanting to get involved in the hobby.

Also, I plan to do a bi-monthly little show with the help of some volunteers. It can be on game reviews, or I can even interview someone that wants to talk about anything related to the hobby, like HPR Pinball on vintage vector arcade games, RAB on EM pins and their significance, a "meet-the-member" type of interview, heck... anything! The more we collect info-wise benefits the hobby and even the collectors.

Let's pollute the web with our pintagonistic vidiocy!!!

Amazing!

I would love a video about diagnosing and repairing a dead switch (outline, orbit, whatever).
Basic soldering, searching for cracks in solder, determining if a replacement is needed, etc.

I try and post what I learn on my blog, but it is the industry geniuses like yourself with the real know-how. (i.e. the experience to have already made all possible past mistakes! :) )

I have always enjoyed Sparky's videos and wanted them to continue!

Off topic: In JD3's video above it features a brief glimpse 5cent Miami Nickel Digger near the beginning of the introduction. I own one (project), they figured prominently in 70's exhibitions across Canada until they were declared a gambling game. As many as can be found were confiscated by the RCMP and burned. The same thing happened earlier in the US. Mine was originally smuggled into Canada as parts only and reassembled by the operator, you can see where the patent numbers and other identification was scrubbed out before being shipped to Canada. There were a number that survived at the manufacturers warehouses and they've all been restored and sold off to collectors.

It's thought that mine survived in Quebec after the operator there hid them, and they eventually made their way through various estate sales and auctions until the one I bought made its way to an Ottawa reseller I knew. Never thought I'd see one again. One day I'll restore it to its original glory just relive that amazing feeling we had when we could maneuver our scoop touch up a bundle of nickels ( only to lose them again trying to scoop the gold watch that was carefully placed "just" out of reach of the rubes. :D
