Fresh Fish expertly packed & shipped - a COVID-19 morning in the Spring of 2020

Post by R.A.B. »

I will be going into Alouette for the first time in a while this Wednesday. No we are not open, haven't been since the lockdown of the non-essential business on March 24th, just going in alone to check the irrigation system on the roof. and mess with a bingo machine just to keep my brain limber.

So I would like to let everyone know that I can ship any parts by Canada Post this wednesday only. If you need something that is holding up your quarantined projects, I probably have it there or in the Montreal Pinball parts storage unit and I can get it off to you that day no problem.

All you need is a credit card, part number(s) or a real good description (I can usually figure out what you need after a couple of key questions) and off it goes. You obviously need a phone to call and text in your info (mailing address & cc) so I can get your parts out that afternoon. Easy breezy, and god knows there are a shitload of parts where I am going that day, and then there are some more parts. It is going to be weird going back to that old warehouse Wednesday morning, - spooky shit.

I am not turning on any computers and I can not hear the office phone from the parts or service areas or when I am up a ladder or in the attic, so there is absolutely no use calling Alouette's phone only to reach an answering machine that nobody will be checking for a good long while yet.

Please call the Montreal Pinball phone line, (514/3305555) or text me your requests and/or questions. That phone will be in my hip pocket from 8AM to NOON. Technology can be useful when you can control it and not let it interfere with the enjoyment of your life or when you are checking for leaks or shorts or bumper skirts.

I always leave the Montreal Pinball phone off and only pick up the messages each evening when I get home to decide who is crazy and who is worth doing a house call for. Wednesday morning will be an exception. There have been some repair requests in the past month, not as many as usual ofcourse, but I am not doing home service until this “bug” gets under our thumbs as a collective.

Virtual Hugs,

Robert A. Baraké

Once again -

This Wednesday between 8AM and high Noon, please use 514/330/5555 (Montreal Pinball business line) to reach me by voice or text at that digit that day for your parts requests, or you can use info@montrealpinball.com if your order is hefty. Minimum parts order by cc that day will be 20 bones.

I will be shipping from Alouette that day only after I make it to the post office and then the essential services liquor store for some high priced red wine after all the parts are in the pipeline and on their way to you folks. Then at least another week off to document and sort out the past, when will this end ?

Gonna consider the meaning of my existence after that and do my taxes and see what the hell we need to do to make ourselves useful again after this pandemic eventually tapers down to a hassle.

I found a scanner in the trash a couple of days ago, so you folks may be in for some crazy stuff on the R n' R thread, because that is where I like to "roll" these daze.

Hi Rob- before I go sending in a request, how granular/esoteric are you willing to get with your limited time?

Balls/switches/lamps are easy, but what about a request for a specific old plastic? Are you looking to dig the stacks like a student researching their thesis, or are you looking to satisfy needs that are more basic in nature?

Excellent & valid question. Well phrased as well. 8-)

As our respective governments have stated, we need to take care of the basic needs of the population first. That is why the liquor stores and the pot stores are open.

But as far as specific pinball machine plastics are concerned, I think we best leave that to later, if and when things ever go back to normal. Those boxes of pinball plastics are not going anywhere soon. I have separated the sling shot plastics from the piles when I have had time, so if they are sling shot plastics you are looking for Colin, these are sorted.

I wanna be sedated.jpg

Booze and pot stores are open for a reason.

These are addictions (tech alcoholism is now a disease). If the product is cut off where will these addicts in withdraw go? The answer is a HOSPITAL! Last place we need more people.

None at the moment Zak.

I have only seen one set of Cliffy protectors at Alouette which they ordered long before I started there in May of 2018, - gonna be two years soon since I left the corporate world behind forever.

Once more the need to ship parts has reared its needy head.

Tomorrow (Monday the 27th) around noon I will be shipping out a couple of parts orders from Alouette. Again, we are not open to the general public.

So if you got your shit together and can follow some simple instructions detailed in the first post of this thread, you can have parts shipped to you by regular mail that day, (cheapest way to do it).

Call or e-mail the Montreal Pinball phone number or send a detailed e-mail to the contact points detailed in the 1st and 3rd posts. I will leave my Montreal Pinball phone on all day Monday. I usually leave it off and let the voicemail pick up the requests so I can deal with them after the day is done, Monday will be another exception.

Calling Alouette while the lockdown of non-essential businesses is happening will only result in having your message lost in the void of this twilight zone period, and besides that, I think I have forgotten the code as to how retrieve voice mails over there by now, so just don't call there.

Was a good two hours today at Alouette sending out parts and talking to a few collectors and friends over the blower.

Montreal Pinball phone line back on the answering service with the ring volume muted until the next fresh fish special then.

Stay sane people, excercise patience, all is not well.

COVID and world-wide repercussions from such occurences persist.
Wondering how "expertly things are packed and shipped today" really...

They are of course done so "easily" with my good friends who do such things properly and regularly.
If and when the supply chain says so; based on financier motives: perhaps things happen for % gains again soon.

Been almost 4 months (me thinks) since my last post here. I guess I am back once again. In motion very soon once again for travel my friends.
Super fun spending 3/4 of that entire timeframe away from online on crutches; (like an amateur) when I was 17 or 18 when I was young and stoopid...

Should know better. What excuse does one have when aged and stoopid? Almost 12 weeks on crutches instead of 4 weeks when young and significant.
Best to now decide quickly; how to move forward in a "super" cautious fashion due to aging ligaments, bones and tendons that believe we are still young.

End of any and all delays.
Back at it with all due force.

Cheers.
Salut.
