There was an argument on pinside about someone advertising a game as "high end restored" that could be confused by having been restored by Chris at High End Pins. Just saying.

Nice game, ludicrous price. GLWTS

Yes, that was for the Joust I sold 2 years ago, I will never advertise as High End ever again......just "nice" or "beautiful" or "gorgeous"......get the message? ;)

I sold my WCS soccer that I had fully restored to an American for $6000CAD and I had to pay part of transport and crate the thing. The list of things done to the game were as extensive as what you did. The level of hate I received was staggering. It might be worth putting it on Pinside for the american crowd. Sorry to burst your bubble. I know the kind of time and effort it takes to do what you did. A lot of people don't appreciate it. I'm guessing you will start getting interest once you are around $6500-7000. In other words you will end up paying yourself $3 per /hr.

Yes I remember admiring your WCS, just like I love looking at that beautiful WW.
The thing is, if you put that much $ $ and time and effort into a restoration, you must know ahead of time that you won't get your investment back out if you sell.
I might pay huge bucks for a pristine EBD, but that is my all time fave keeper pin...
If you find a WW lover, he or she might pay that price, or a very wealthy collector, but to the average Joe, the title dictates the value, and condition only adds to that value, to a maximum.
I remember discussing this same issue in my "restoration cost" thread a while back...
I don't see why you would receive a "staggering level of hate" though...you put tons of time into it, so that has to be worth something. And at 6k you did get big bucks for a WCS, but probably nowhere near what it was worth to you.

Bump for a beautiful machine. Nothing wrong with a fella setting a price. The audience for something this nice (and as a result price) is more limited to collectors than "do-it-your-selfer hobbyists" that want player condition pins.

If you want it you can either gamble and wait it out until the price comes down to your liking or make an offer (negotiate a price). No need to send hate mail cause that always works.

I agree with an earlier poster - a wider audience than MAACA is probably needed for a quick sale.

Sorry i don't want to hijack your thread but i understand the time and money invested in a pinball to make it beautiful like your Whirlwind. The two major reasons i'm not working no more on other people project is my limited time, the energy and the ''real'' price i should ask for my work.

Hope that people realize how much it take to restore a machine like yours and don't bash about your asking price.
Personnaly i'm very comfortable with that and hope you can find the right buyer who can apreciate one the best title from that era.

Congratulations. You have done a fantastic job on this machine. it looks amazing. I would rather play this than any of the new Sterns. I hope you get close to your asking price but I know it will be tough. unfortunately with pinball machines your time and money don't mean as much to the buyer as it does to the seller. GLWS
