RESERVED: 1934 World's Series

Postby cait001 » Fri Dec 07, 2018 10:49 pm

Hey all! You might have noticed I've been buying a lot of 1930s machines as of late. Well in the past year I got 3 of the classic Rockola World's Series projects (amongst many other treasures!) and now that it's nearing holiday time, I need to say goodbye to two and focus on the one I am going restore.

So anyone looking for a great winter-time project? This machine is purely mechanical, doesn't even use a battery, and is an absolute marvel. Apparently it is the most popular pinball machine ever made, based on manufacturing numbers.

Have you never seen one before? check these gameplay videos from other people

One cool thing about this game is that there is a store dedicated to all of the replacement parts you might need: http://rockola.buckwerx.com/store/index ... ry&path=62

machine #1
pros:
great graphics
original door (1930s machines are so often missing a door)
original tilt mech
fully intanct instructions sticker
excise tax sticker
new game spring (the large spring under the playfield)
original coin mech and ball lift

cons:
baseball diamond green looks like it has been repainted at one point
no legs
no tilt mech (often missing, really not necessary unless a completist)
missing shooter rod (readily available part)
minor visible repair on the ball feed mech (see pics)

machine #2
pros:
great graphics
original door (1930s machines are so often missing a door)
original coin mech, ball lift, shooter
original tilt mechanism (that's a big deal apparently)

cons:
no legs
no playfield glass (I had one made for ~$35)
not original colour cabinet (but cab still looks great, and the recipe for the original colour is available for free)

machine #2 pics

note the darker wood paint. It looks good, but I doubt it's original.

I am often on the hunt for 1930s games and can keep an eye out for you. Just this title or any others from that era?
